#1 - Imagine having to call your partners to ask, "I'm not crazy, right? This is a liver, not a spleen?"
#2 - Imagine having to call the surgeon to say, "Hey, that spleen you sent me...That wasn't the spleen. Yeah, I'm sure. That's a liver."
I call patients in the evening after outpatient surgery. I accidentally transposed a number when I sent this message. It is purposely vague to avoid a HIPAA violation.
1) We need to teach HIPAA in high school so people understand
2) We really need to be nicer to one another!
Message: "Patient's family extremely upset you haven't spoken with them."
Me: "They weren't in the waiting area after surgery and haven't answered five phone calls attempting to contact them."
