- Other kids wanted an SS396 with a Holley carb and Hurst shifter. I wanted this:

- Finished manuscript on the left is 558 pages. Stack on the right is the work it took to get here, including revised scenes, rewritten scenes, and cut scenes. 1300+ pages. Title will be announced soon
- After two failed manuscripts, I wrote this book. Nine publishers rejected it. They told me private eye fiction was dead, and nobody wanted to read about someone named Elvis. Then it sold, and now THE MONKEY’S RAINCOAT is in its 40th printing. #neverquit
- The lady in the wheelchair was my mom. She had a 7th grade education, worked in a laundry washing other people’s clothes, and bought me comic books with which I learned to read. Whatever I am, I owe to her. Happy Mothers Day, Mama. I miss you.

- Books! They exist! I love how they look and how they feel and even how they smell! My 23rd book-baby! I’m thrilled you all will be able to read RACING THE LIGHT on Nov 1 (Nov 10 in the UK)!
- THE BIG EMPTY (the next Elvis Cole/Joe Pike novel) is coming on 1/14/25 in the US and 1/16/25 in the UK. Since my author pic was looking kinda, um, worn, I had a new pic taken. Photo by Jerry Ward.
