Inadvertently hopped into a wrestling stance to fit everyone into a selfie w/o getting too close. Today, we had particularly good turn-out, with students, staff, faculty deans, & professors converging on the Yard to enjoy the simple pleasure of running together.#harvarduniversity

My largest remaining NSF grant, which was awarded by a competitive process on the recommendation of national experts, was terminated yesterday. The money would have paid for PhD students to invent better AI systems for everyday people who need programs written for them but ...

Thank you so much @SloanFoundation for recognizing all our research! And thank you to the mentors who have taken time out of their busy days to help me, collaborators who have wrestled ideas with me & intrepid students who have both trusted and challenged me. #SloanFellow

...who can't or won't write them themselves (which is most people, in most situations). I'm sad that the rate of progress we make will slow down significantly, because all our progress is made public for everyone to benefit from. That's what #publiclyFunded research is.

Teaching our first HCI+AI grad seminar here @ @Harvard @hseas. Looking forward to digging into characteristics of human cognition, how human+AI teams don't always work as you'd expect, & what might make computers *better* collaborators & supporters of human agency in the future!

A little more than one year after I arrived on @harvard's campus, I have a research group website that I'm proud of: glassmanlab.seas.harvard.edu Oh, and I'm looking for promising PhD students to help me further build this hard-working, curious community. Please apply to @hseas!

[Retweets welcome!] We have bandwidth to take on new PhD students & postdocs. I updated the group website (glassmanlab.seas.harvard.edu) with instructions for interested applicants. Topics of current & future research: designing for “loophole” behavior in human-AI interaction, …[1/2]

WTF, @united. For what possible purpose do you need access to my photos, phone call logs, calendar, etc. in order to give me access to free in-flight entertainment? #noreasonnodata

If a professor with imposter syndrome dresses like a professor on Halloween, does it count as a costume? Asking for a friend.😂

Keep getting mistaken for a student when I'm not wearing super-professional clothing, but I don't mind. Just happy to meet the students here, who are all pretty awesome. Paraphrased from tonight: "What year are you?" "I'm the new professor on your quals committee!"

Today I'm helping edit several brilliant undergraduate students' theses into CSCW submissions, and I'm having a real "I love my job" moment.

Me: "I love writing! I like my ideas--and writing is the best mental debugger in the world to make them better!" Also me: "Whelp, I wrote for a whole 9 minutes. Time to get more coffee/tea/another round of walking around the house, right? Right!"
