- Rape as a crime is so fundamentally different. There can be loose justifications for other crimes, like poverty; even murder can be accidental or in self defense. - Can I say something controversial? I don't think this is the whole picture. I think many Americans don't realize how readily white women in non-liberal areas (so, most of the country) accept subjugation.White women overwhelmingly vote against their own interests as women because their commitment to racism supersedes anything else.
