Title: WVU Mountaineers
In 2021, I ended up leaving my house and just driving to go anywhere. I ended up in Pittsburgh and eventually Oakland. When walking around the campus, I was head to toe in WVU gear. Passing by this store on the sidewalk, this man confronted me and said “why are you here?”….
Sad news. I was just informed that former #Pitt Panther Chas Bonasorte has passed away. Known as “The Kamakaze Kid". He was a member of @Pitt_FB’s 1976 National Championship team. Most know him for operating “The Pitt Stop.” May his memory be eternal. 🙏🏻 #RIP 🟡🔵
While he couldn’t persuade me to go to Pitt, I enjoyed listening to his old stories. I usually don’t have much good to say about Pitt fans, but he is an exception. A damn good man, did all that he could for a place he loved. Wishing his family well during these difficult times.
WHEN 5 is retired for WVU Football, it has to be done with the second-ever Whiteout in Morgantown. Gotta wear 🔵⚪️⚪️ to commemorate the original as well. Wouldn’t mind it snowing for the game too.
I explained that due to being in all remote classes, I never left the house that much. My classes got cancelled for the day, so I just left. He was surprised to hear that it was my first time ever being on Pitt’s campus, as I never made the trip for away games as a kid…
Once our conversation was coming to an end, he said, “Here take this. Don’t burn it or wipe your ass with it,” and gave me a royal blue Pitt graphic tee shirt. I will say that I took his advice, but I have to be honest, I only wear the shirt if I’m cleaning or painting…
We heckled each other about being rivals for a bit, but conversation eventually turned into him trying to persuade me into transferring to Pitt as a student. I listened, even though my mind was definitely already made up to stay as a Mountaineer…
When everything was said and done, we shook hands and exclaimed that we hope that our teams beat each other. If I ever ended up on Pitt’s campus again, I would have definitely stopped at his spot…
