theyfab coworker just asked me in a lab full of people, βdo you ever misgender yourself?β
i said βno, iβm too comfortable in my own identity to do something like that.β
and then they explained how itβs normal to misgender yourself and iβm actually the weird one here
i donβt care how politically aware you are, or how much LGBT activism you partake in. if you are a c!s person, you HAVE to pay attention to the way you speak about trans women.
if i see you misgender or degender a trans woman, iβm assuming youβre a transphobe. thereβs no excuse.
and iβve been seeing them tell men βitβs just our uterus - the thing that keeps your baby safeβ. which is not only trying to justify being seen as βfatβ, but also weighing their worth based on their ability to give birth
iβm often assumed to be a trans woman simply because i consistently stand up against transmisogyny. this is extremely sad because trans women should never be left alone in the fight for their ability to exist without consequence.
very true.
itβs funny to think of which handful of people the average person thinks of when they hear βdetransitionerβ. examples include maia poet (never went on hormones) & ollie london (βtransitionedβ to a βkorean womanβ for attention). the grifters always get the spotlight.
