A penalty should clearly & absolutely have been awarded in that situation. Different arguments can ensue from there, but the correct award in that instance was a penalty. Again, any potential OS in this incident is irrelevant

- Replying to @AndyMcCrimmon @des_roache and 3 othersNot every contact is a foul. The attacker has to have his feet somewhere & didn’t put them anywhere inappropriate for that situation. There was nothing clear & obviously wrong with the decision.
- Replying to @bawarmyNot every (ex)official thinks it’s a foul!
- You could have a decent argument there. However, the way it was handled was incompatible with the Laws & VAR failed in its duties. To “concoct” an argument after the fact is deplorable
- The OS potential was completely irrelevant because the clear penalty was discounted by VAR. The penalty was not ruled out for OS because the game did not restart with an indirect free kick.
- Guest appearance on Off the Ball, by Des & me at the weekend. Should be fun! @RoacheDes @SamJF16
- Replying to @rtchaps84 and @bawarmyNo excusing the call. It was wrong. In that situation you would be relying on your AR. Part of pre-match instruction is where & when to be involve. Since everybody is mic’d up, he can be getting input without us knowing. Doesn’t change the fact it was wrong
- No. The whole point of VAR is to correct a clear & obvious error. There is no fault attached to the match referee, he was in as good a position as it was possible to be, but it was clearly & obviously wrong not to award the penalty.
- Get Involved Referee starting again tomorrow for the new season. Bound to be a cracker!
- Look who popped in for tonight’s show! Des speaking with Simon Donnelly tomorrow night
- Replying to @bawarmy and @16smithlewisNot good. On this occasion, and only this occasion, that’s not the re’s call. Right in front of the AR though
- Replying to @bawarmyIn Nick’s defence, he wasn’t in a position to call that. He was probably where he should have been though, but should have been able to rely on his AR. Still wrong call though
- Replying to @refsupportukYes it does & that context was required. That man, that team & the authorities all need called out for that; for the behaviour, for the team condoning it & the authorities for their dereliction of duty.
