    Today is the 100th anniversary of women's suffrage in the UK, but it wasn't until 1919 that women could become vets and only in 1922 did Aleen Cust become the first woman on the Register. From these slow and formative beginnings, now well over half of vets are women #Suffrage100

    Congratulations to @SurreyVet at @UniOfSurrey which has now had its vet degree accredited by #RCVSCouncil - a formal Recognition Order will now be laid before Parliament after which it will enter the cyclical accreditation process

    Jointly with @BritishVets and @bvnauk we have written to @BorisJohnson asking that Afghan vet professionals who've worked for UK charities/ NGOs such as @Nowzad and @themayhew in Afghanistan are evacuated and resettled in the UK should they wish: rcvs.org.uk/news-and-views…

    .@RCVSpresident wrote to @DefraGovUK yesterday to call for vets to be granted ‘key worker’ status due to their critical roles in food safety, zoonotic disease surveillance & research, & practice team provision of 24/7 emergency services to animals, including small animals.
