As some of you may know, I am currently cycling from Africa to @plumptonraces to raise funds for the charity of my sister Charlotte who sadly passed away last year from a rare type of liver cancer at just 22 years old. Why should Racing have to consult bookmakers if they want to reschedule fixtures?! Racing is fed up with bookies dictating terms and lording it over a sport they have no regard for. The @SMFthinktank proposal will safeguard Racing, with an additional c. £150m in prize money.

You know, you’re absolutely right!! Ralph should tell his owners not to run in one of the biggest festivals of the year. That’ll really stick it to the bookmakers. Not like the owners pay his training fees or anything… DugherLogic™️

Following his interview earlier this week, it’s great to see Ralph Beckett sticking to his principles and refusing to have anything to the bookmakers…

I used to work at Racing Victoria and we are miles behind in this department. Just look today at Randwick - 50,000 sell out crowd, all young people.

The problem is though that racing has been hearing the “get behind the operators” rhetoric without bookmakers seeming to care that the industry is on its knees. I haven’t seen one plan for racing from bookmakers, it’s just all talk. The funny thing is that the Plumpton proposal

I heard the same uneducated comments from Raph Beckett about imagined levels of harm All stuff he hears from those who oppose gambling the reality of 'harm' in the regulated market is the issue is extremely low The standard approach of those taking wages and careers is to big

So after setting off from Africa almost 3 weeks ago, we’ve made it to Chantilly Racecourse @francegalop - home of the French Derby, where a certain CELTIC SWING won 30 years ago in 1995! Looking forward to finishing at @plumptonraces on Monday! 2,300kms down, only 400 to go!

Online slots, which are causing massive gambling harms to people, are taxed at 21%. Horse racing is effectively taxed higher at 25% (15% tax plus 10% Levy). How on earth is that right or fair?! Especially when you look at the high cost of the product for racing (media rights

I cannot believe what I’ve just read… The problem of smoking within snooker was an image problem. Without gambling, Racing has a funding problem and would pretty much cease to exist. This is so glaringly obvious. Who appoints these people to gambling regulatory roles?!

So just forget about the 85,000 jobs that are supported by racing?! Are you suggesting racing should just accept its fate and continued decline because public services are “already strained”? We have to make our case to government, it’s up to them whether they listen. And

You’re proposing money from general taxation that pays for already strained public services is redirected to increase subsidies for racing. Outside of your racing/betting bubble how much support do you think that enjoys from the majority of folk who have no interest in racing?
