After much thinking I’ve come to the conclusion that I can’t support Covid plan B. I just don’t think the justification is there and I fear that the mindset/logic that led to it could well lead to a gradual creep towards more and more draconian restrictions.

Hopefully we will never again experience another lockdown. However it should not be underestimated how even the fear of one (something that has been fuelled over the past week) will be crippling to the mental health of millions.

Difficult for me to articulate in a single tweet how appalled I am at the individuals who defaced the Churchill monument on the 76th anniversary of the D day landings and took a police officer off her horse. This cannot be allowed to happen again!

The leaders of the Church of England should be wary about clumsily intervening into complex political issues at the best of times. To do so on Easter Sunday feels very wrong. Archbishop of York views particularly wrong headed. Claims he’s in tune with majority of the public 🙄

Go and find another job then. Border control is one of the key functions of the Home Office. Maybe try and get selected as a Labour candidate

1/1Telling that many of the most vocal critics of the Rwanda policy are members of elite society who have never had to live with the consequences of uncontrolled illegal immigration. The issue that the Rwanda policy is designed to tackle.

Very sad. Yes he’s the PM but he’s also a human being with a family. After the year he’s had, if ever anyone needed and deserved a few days off it’s him (you don’t need to agree with him as a politician or like him) to see this. Shame on those who sabotaged the holiday

Over the next few days @UKLabour figures will attack what has been outlined today. They will say the issue is that it’s unworkable, it’s too expensive etc etc. The truth of the matter is that as a Party they invariably back open borders and oppose any kind of immigration control

Not that she needed it. But I did go up to @patel4witham after PMQs yesterday to say that I was 110 per cent behind her and I believe so are the majority of the public. The campaign against her by unelected officials will not work. She is just what the Home Office needs!
