After 12+ years, this is my last week at Facebook. I’ve been planning to take an extended break from work for a while now, and I think I’ve finally found a reasonable time to do so. [1/5]

- As a long-time believer in the power of the web and open source software, I’m excited to share that I’m joining @vercel!
- So happy to finally be able to talk about what my group has been working on! The new Facebook.com, powered by React and Relay.Age-restricted adult content. This content might not be appropriate for people under 18 years old. To view this media, you’ll need to log in to X. Learn more
- React Native is used by many teams at Facebook. LightSpeed had intense constraints and is an awesome engineering achievement. Writing the core in C and leveraging the platform as much as possible was the right call for them.Did Facebook just kill off React Native? Either way, it's funny that I actually agree. We write all our hybrid shells with the native platform tooling (and then fill them with server-rendered HTML using Turbolinks!). - I can't believe it's been ten years… We were wrong about async, batched, serializable, but this is otherwise just as relevant today as it was back then. Huge props and thank you to the RN community for a decade-long journey iterating to greatness.
00:00 - Thank you @Honeypotio for telling the story of the earliest days of React. And thank you @jordwalke for creating something that's had such a huge impact on all of us, and software in general.
- Thank you to everyone who spoke at, helped organize, attended, or tuned in to watch #ReactConf2018. React has the most talented, inclusive, optimistic community, and I am so happy to be a part of it.
- Optimism is the catalyst for human progress. Support each other. Thanks to everyone who joined us for #reactconf, including on the stream!

- NuxtLabs joining Vercel feels like the right kind of full circle. They’ve built tools developers love: open by default, designed to work everywhere. Vercel’s open SDK strategy = strong cohesion with our infra, loose coupling by design. Welcome @Atinux and the NuxtLabs team!NuxtLabs, creators of Nuxt and Nitro, are joining Vercel. Same license, roadmap, and open governance, but now in a joint mission to build the best web.
