In a new model for athlete partnership, we have hired distinguished middle distance runners @runmarycain and @nickwillis as full-time employees. They will also compete as Tracksmith athletes in their build up to Tokyo 2021. for-the-love.tracksmith.com

3:58.63. Every year since 2003, @nickwillis has broken 4 minutes for the mile. He ran his first when he was 19, his 19th, last night, at 37. Nick’s run sets a new world record, previously held by fellow Kiwi, John Walker, who ran 18 sub-4 miles from 1973-1990. Race day is sacred.

In the NCAA, Black athletes are only in 3 sports in large numbers: football, basketball, and track. So when schools like @UMNews cut track and field, they are cutting their Black athletes who don't make them money. Read my piece in the @StarTribune here: startribune.com/college-sports…

Great read from @ScottCacciola @nytimes on @nickwillis sub-4 streak. “There is a tendency in sports to celebrate the next best thing, the prodigies who burst onto the scene. But January has been quite a month for runners of a different vintage.” nytimes.com/2022/01/30/spo…
