Latest work by our group describing a novel attentional module for deep neural networks with human-in-the-loop to co-train the network -- leading to improved accuracy and visual features that are more interpretable and more similar to those used by humans.

Pet project from my graduate student @Napoolar integrating many explainability methods that he has developed with collaborators in the past couple of years into one interface summarizing how a ResNet50 categorizes natural object categories. Take a look!

👋👨‍🍳🍵 After a year of cooking up a secret project, I'm thrilled to officially reveal: The 𝐋𝐄𝐍𝐒 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐣𝐞𝐜𝐭. By combining modern tools of Explainable AI, how much can we explain a ResNet50? 🧶

Nice work getting SSL models to align better with humans than those explicitly trained to do so with supervised methods!

With the advent of AI assistants, humans depend on their outputs at an unprecedented rate. It is vital that these models be aligned with human abilities, judgements, and preferences. Self-supervised video pretraining yields a big step towards human-aligned visual representations

Brown researchers teach computers to see optical illusions
By making a neural-network computer model that can be fooled by optical illusions like humans, the researchers advanced knowledge of the human visual system and may help improve artificial vision.
