@hosseeb asks: Why is the crypto industry returning to token sales when it previously abandoned them? I co-founded CoinList. Here's my insider's perspective: Lawyers killed token sales. Specifically, lawyers told projects that airdrops were a safer and better alternative to

    1. Other MMs provide verified data to projects. You provide unverified, self reported data to projects Neither is ideal, but the former is a way better market equilibrium than your approach Major difference in transparency and data quality. You’re grading your own homework 2.

Happy to provide full transparency to the market The blocker is the NDAs in every Wintermute contract that prevent us (and anyone else) from disclosing data publicly Remove your NDAs and the market will have full transparency

We have plenty of data on Wintermute that we don't share due to NDAs Happy to share publicly if you release us from NDAs In general, Coinwatch being paywalled is literally only because of market makers' NDAs We're happy to share any MM's data if they give us permission

There's an important difference between a one-off mistake by a sore loser versus a systemic embrace of censorship, lawfare, importing voters The latter threatens democracy far more than the former, and I'm not sure why you don't see it

    > If unemployment is low and deficits are high, why do democrats still think we need to spend more social programs? Because they discovered that they "can bribe the public with the public's money."

WHY CRYPTO WILL WIN In 2013 @naval hired me at AngelList. I was the 13th employee, and also the first person they hired straight out of college. Wall Street was sclerotic and widely hated. In no time, I thought, Silicon Valley startups would disrupt Wall Street, the same way

FWIW a lot of this nomenclature was driven by fear of securities law If you're a company, the token looks a lot more like a security
