    THREAD/ESSAY: ASHITAKA THE PRIEST I’ve been a Catholic priest for just over 5 years now, and the last few times I’ve watched Princess Mononoke, I’ve been struck by the similarities between Ashitaka’s role and the role of the priest. Would love to hear any thoughts this sparks!

    I told our summer visitor Nigerian priest who is heading back to Spain for his studies tomorrow that I would take him & his buddies out wherever they wanted to go for dinner tonight and he got super excited and now we are going to Golden Corral and I can’t talk him out of it

    Todays hom: “I’ve got a bunch of Protestant friends & when they really want to get on my nerves they say, ‘you Catholics worship Mary!’ And you know what? I don’t even argue anymore. I just say, ‘You don’t even know how crazy we are man! We’ve even got a feast day for a CHAIR!’”

    Nurse who called us @ 3am this morning: “We have a man in the ICU who is dying. His family is asking for someone to come and read him his last rites.” Got up, got dressed, jumped in the car, and crossed my fingers that they were requesting a priest and not a police officer. 😬
