Eliminate prior-auths completely. An insurance company shouldn’t get to decide what care a pt gets that’s between them and their Dr. #txlege @texmed @KenPaxtonTX @GovAbbott @DrBuckinghamTX @DrGregBonnen

Why D.C. Council should act now to fix prior authorization ama-assn.org/practice-manag… (via @AmerMedicalAssn) Wonder how the AMA is doing with Prior Authorization in their Medicare HMO? They've been promoting managed care for 40+ years. LOL.

Today BCBS wouldn’t approve surgery for acute ACL tear in young female athlete. They now are using a third party company called @CarelonHealth to decide if my patients board certified fellowship trained former NFL ortho surgeon recommended the correct care. This has to stop.

7 years ago today I left being an employed surgeon for major hospital system. Two kids in college at time, went to zero income overnight, started over and built my company. A little scary at the time, but my wife encouraged me to bet on myself.Follow your passion.

Had a patient of mine hurt her knee in London while at school. Wouldn’t Xray her,35weeks minimum wait to see an Ortho, no MRI avail .Would only allow her to do physio? Flew home to see me. Anyone who thinks NHS is a model to follow in US,is mistaken.

Hey @Cigna You denied my patients shoulder MRI,she had to pay cash to obtain this which showed a SLAP rotator cuff injury after trauma which also fx her dist radius. You now say she must do 3mos of PT and r denying surgery. This is practicing medicine and not legal in TX.

15 yrs ago my son casually asked me as we were standing in the kitchen what to do if you had profuse bleeding. I found it odd that a 16y old would ask this, but I stopped and clearly explained direct pressure. 2 weeks later they were at a friends lake house and my son was a

The doctors who do this on behalf of insurance companies should be held accountable and the medical boards should review their actions and determine if they are acting ethically. Taking money from Ins Co to deny care seems like a conflict to me

Just stop it. If you want to practice medicine, take the MCAT, apply to med school and stop trying to legislate something your not. Never thought in my professional career this would even be an issue. Nurses are not doctors and can not practice medicine.

Now do spine😳 Patients think we get paid thousands/case,but we don’t. Anesthesia often makes more. The very ones who make surgery possible are the lowest paid but with 100% of the risk.

Should non doctors be allowed to be CEOs of and run hospitals? Seems ever since we have allowed non docs to run hospitals and health systems things have gotten worse for docs. Thoughts?

@SharletaBasset1 I’m an orthopedic surgeon in TX originally from CA. I have a podcast The Call Room and would like to share your story with others. Drs have been threatened with jail, fines and having their license taken if they operate. This story is becoming too common. DM me.

Mass General going to allow full practice authority to NPs, but not PAs. Tell me who has the stronger lobbying group. None should practice apart from a supporting physician. Does everyone see what’s happening? We r going to let midlevels practice without oversight and we heard

As an orthopedic surgeon, father and grandfather I haven’t said anything about these E-Bikes and E-Scooters but I have seen enough. They are extremely dangerous and children shouldn’t be riding these, especially without helmets. You should have to have drivers license to operate
