    Any undergraduate student from North Carolina and South Carolina admitted to Duke whose household income is $150,000 or less will not have to pay tuition. "... a Duke education can be affordable and accessible."

    This is actually huge: With internet shortages/outages after Helene, getting info has been harder b/c news websites with photos and video are slow to load. BPR launched a text only website that will load better even with spotty wifi text.bpr.org Absolutely brilliant

    District Attorney Andrew Womble said he will not file criminal charges against any of the deputies involved in the shooting that killed Andrew Brown Jr. and said their actions were "justified." Womble also said he won't release bodycam video.

    More than a week since Lt. Gov. Mark Robinson hired a law firm to refute a CNN report, neither he nor the law firm have released any new information or filed any legal actions over the story.

    For the 15th time, the White House will choose its Christmas tree from North Carolina. No other state has sent more Christmas trees to the home of the President. This year's tree will come from Ashe County.
