Family killed in the Texas mall shooting identified as Cindy Cho, Kyu Cho and their 3-year-old son, James Cho. Their other child, William, just turned 6 and is the only survivor. They were going to the mall to exchange clothes he received for his birthday

When I was in high school, my friend Shannon who had diabetes was low on sugar. She started to say very strange things at first. Before we could get her help, she started to scream and rammed herself against a bunch of tables and chairs. Then she proceeded to pass out.

My wish is for everyone to see and humanize these women. They were working so hard to survive and provide for their families and loved ones. They were someone’s mother or aunt or daughter or niece....and loved. It breaks me that we have to ask for others to see us as human.

I kept her from injuring herself. And I got her sugar (icing from the cafeteria) and an ambulance. She woke up before the ambulance. Now I can’t imagine…what if someone instead of seeing it as a medical emergency, felt threatened and put her in a chokehold and killed her?
