Docker individual accounts

A Docker account is how Docker identifies you. Use it to access products like Docker Hub and Docker Desktop, manage settings, and join organizations.

Docker ID, email, and sign-in

When you create an account, you choose a Docker ID and a sign-in method. Docker also ties a verified email to the account.

  • Your Docker account associates your plans, Hub repositories, and account settings.
  • A Docker ID is a unique username that identifies you. Your Docker ID is permanent and stays the same when you change your email or sign-in method.
  • Your email is how Docker contacts you for notifications and security-related communications.
  • You can sign in with email and password, Google, or GitHub. An organization or company you belong to can require single sign-on (SSO).

Individual and organization accounts

When you join an organization, you use your individual account and its Docker ID. To learn more about organization accounts, see Organization accounts. To transfer your Docker ID to an organization namespace, see Convert a Docker account to an organization.
