FAQ
Honest answers
Do I need an account?
Yes, a free one, for the Chrome extension. Sign in with Google on this site, or in the side panel after you install. That’s how your daily limit and settings follow you. The Mistake Report on the web needs no account.
Which keys do I press?
Alt+1 to Alt+9 come set up with rewrite prompts. On a Mac, use Option instead of Alt. To see what each key does, or to change it, open the side panel with Alt+Shift+B (Option+Shift+B on a Mac) and go to Settings.
Is my text private?
Our server doesn’t save the text you rewrite. It goes to our AI provider only to make the rewrite, and it isn’t used to train models. If your employer doesn’t allow work text in outside tools, don’t use it there. The privacy policy has the details.
What happens when I hit my daily limit?
Free gives you 5 rewrites a day, and the count resets the next day. Pro gives you 180 a day.
What is the free English Mistake Report?
A free page on this site. Paste 1 to 3 emails or paragraphs that you wrote. It fixes only the mistakes. It gives the rule for each one, also in your language, and shows proof from Google Books when it has it. It works on your phone. You get 5 free reports a day.
What does the Mistake Report do with my text?
We do not save your text, unless you tick the optional box to let us keep it for 90 days to improve the checker. We send it one time to our AI provider (Anthropic) to make the report. Anthropic does not use it to train AI. We keep only numbers, for example how many reports we made. To stop abuse, we keep a scrambled code of your IP address for 2 days.
Where does the proof come from?
We count how often each version appears in Google Books Ngram data from 2015 to 2019. For example, books use “depends on” 524 times more often than “depends of”. Books are not emails, so use the proof as a guide, not as a law.
Which websites does it work on?
Most places you type in Chrome, including Gmail, Outlook, Slack, LinkedIn, Google Docs and Microsoft Teams.
Does it work on my phone?
The extension does not. It runs in Chrome on a laptop or desktop with Windows, macOS, Linux or ChromeOS. Phones and tablets can’t run Chrome extensions. The free Mistake Report works on your phone.
Which AI does it use?
The Chrome extension uses OpenAI’s GPT-5.4 mini, on every plan. We switch when a better model comes out, and your price stays the same. The Mistake Report uses a Claude model from Anthropic.
How do I cancel?
From your dashboard on belikenative.com, any time. Cancelling stops the next charge. Lifetime comes with a 14-day refund, no questions asked. The Refund Terms cover the rest.
