How to export a WhatsApp chat

Android

  1. Open the chat → tap ⋮ (top right).
  2. More → Export chat.
  3. Choose Without media (recommended: smaller, text-only) or Include media.
  4. Save/share the .zip (contains _chat.txt) to this phone or computer.
  5. Open ChatKeep below and drop that file — nothing is uploaded.

iPhone / iOS

  1. Open the chat → tap the contact or group name at the top.
  2. Scroll → Export Chat.
  3. Choose Without Media for text-only (or Attach Media).
  4. Save to Files / AirDrop / share the .zip or .txt to this device.
  5. Drop it into ChatKeep below — processed only in this browser tab.

Labels vary slightly by WhatsApp version and language. Look for “Export chat” / “Export Chat”. Desktop WhatsApp does not offer the same export — use the phone. Prefer Without media for fastest parse.
