In `@docs/src/agent-cli/introduction.md`:
- Around line 187-188: Correct the --json output contract statement in the CLI
introduction: do not claim every command returns { ok, device, app, result },
since devices --json emits the device array directly. Limit the generic
object-shape description to commands using withDevice, or document each
command’s actual output shape.
In `@packages/cli/src/cli.ts`:
- Line 62: Update the foreground-app discovery around
connected.device.getForegroundApp() to be best-effort: handle discovery failures
without propagating them as command errors, while retaining metadata when
available. Preserve the underlying command result and exit status when
foreground-app information cannot be obtained.
- Line 153: Update the result-building logic in renderSnapshot/queryAll so
locator matches are derived from the matched nodes and their corresponding
entries in snapshot.nodes, rather than filtering snapshot.lines alone. Include
matches for nodes without text or interactive roles, while preserving the
existing ref output and depth behavior for rendered lines.
- Around line 239-240: Validate CLI assertion arguments before invoking core
assertions: introduce one shared numeric parser and use it for both the count
conversion and the timeout conversion in the relevant CLI assertion flow.
Require timeout values to be finite and non-negative, and count values to be
finite, non-negative integers; reject invalid inputs before calling runMatcher
or Locator.count.
In `@packages/cli/src/connect.ts`:
- Line 59: Update the SessionState construction in the connect flow so refs are
reset when deviceId differs from session.deviceId, while preserving existing
refs when the selected device is unchanged.
- Line 60: Update the connect flow around saveSession so any persistence failure
after device.connect is handled by closing the connected device and cleaning up
any auto-started server before the rejection propagates; ensure this cleanup
occurs before withDevice can miss the connected result.
In `@packages/cli/src/session.test.ts`:
- Line 8: Update the test setup around the MOBILEWRIGHT_CLI_DIR assignment to
save the previous environment value and restore it in a finally block after the
test completes, preserving the prior value when defined and removing the
variable when it was originally unset.
In `@packages/cli/src/session.ts`:
- Line 15: Harden the session-directory and session-file handling around
MOBILEWRIGHT_CLI_DIR: create selected directories with owner-only permissions,
and use lstat validation to reject symlinks, non-directories, mismatched owners,
and group/other-writable permissions. Before read/write operations in connect
and saveSession, validate session paths similarly and use no-follow or atomic
file opening so paths cannot be replaced between validation and writing.
- Line 19: Update sessionPath() to reject empty session names and names
containing either forward or backslashes before calling join(); preserve path
construction for valid single-filename names and ensure saveSession() cannot
receive an invalid path component.

Summary
New package
packages/cli→@mobilewright/cli(binmobilewright-cli), modeled on Playwright's agent CLI: coding agents run short shell commands, every screen comes back as a compact text tree with element refs (e12) that later commands act on.Phase 1 commands:
devices, launch, terminate, url, snapshot, find(all locator options),tap, doubletap, longpress, fill, type, press, button, swipe, screenshot, expect. Global-d/--device,-s/--session,--json.snapshotflattens the view hierarchy to- role "name" [ref=eN] [attrs]lines, skipping bare containers.find/expectreuse the coreLocatorStrategy+queryAll/expect, so refs and assertions match what a test would do.docs/src/agent-cli/introduction.md+ sidebar category.Skipped for now: long-lived daemon (each command connects, ~1.5s), SKILL.md, webview snapshot.
Test plan
npm run lintexpectfailure, bad ref) followed by a successful command
