Bio

I'm a serial hobbyist, trying to have as much fun as I can, Some things I find stupid, and I probably will tell you, but I try not to be a dick about it, mostly I do manage that.
Anything I say is just my personal opinion or if it sounds really stupid, probably a joke. Yes I might have opinions that you don't like, and if you don't I'm willing to talk
about it, just be honest and decent and I will strive to do the same.

Anything I post on here is under CC BY-NC-SA 4.0 If you want to use my posts for something commercial (LLM training, ad testiment etc) just contact me and I'm sure we could
make something out.

Some things I do like:
- Programming
- Shorthand
- Retrogames
- Indiegames
- Pen and paper puzzles
- Reading

Here a pinned post regarding followers,

I will accept a follow if we have been interacting and you pass the sniff test.

If we haven't interacted, and I don't find much that we have in common in your profile or comments I will most likely not accept.

I'm not here to get "internet famous" I'm here to have some fun, and I'm being cautious for multiple reasons, so think about it before requesting a follow, or you might be surprised why I don't accept the request.

The weird contradiction of IT work is that the deeper and better you work, it looks like you're doing less, and being lazy.
Management only really notice what they can see, so the times when they think I'm working hard is if I'm wasting times on writing mails that people just skim and never answer, or when I wire an ETL job wrong and send my manager 3 500 mails in an hour.

I am getting an impression that language teaching in English contexts focus less on pragmatics? Am I wrong about that? It just feels like such an important thing to know to me to actually using a language.

In my experience, the american left is quite different from the european left, but it might be that I'm very biased in what I see from "internet leftism" from the american side.

I've always disliked dates.

Then my coworker brought fresh (yellow kind of speckled) fresh dates, that were just about to be ripe.

And they are really good.

Turns out I like dates, just not the dried ones.

This is kind of interesting, but very simplified in my opinion, I just find it kind of funny that people struggle so much when there is no direct translation of a word. Almost any time, unless the languages are extremely closely related, if you reach for a direct translation, you're going to sound stilted and weird.

Today is one of those days where everyone asks for help with things, so that I don't get to do anything. But at least I'm helpful.. I think.

I don't know how, but for some reason I've got some ideas for characters and kind of a world in my mind. I've been playing with the idea of writing something, the problem I'm pretty horrible at writing.

So, how do I get better? I guess the answer is just a variation of try, then try again, then try again until it's less shitty? But how much, do I just write a chapter, do I just keep writing the story down, and then go back to it later to do it again I'm leaning towards the latter.

It's all pie in the sky thoughts for now but I know have a lot of writers that I know here.

Man, I was looking into a page on reddit, and saw some of the "political discussion" americans are doing, time to take a nice little bleach bath and hope I will ever feel half way clean again.

I finally let go of Skeptic's guide to the universe, it's been building for a while, but their "coverage" of a press release from open AI where they were just blindly gobbling up everything there, and chasticing Cara for being slightly down on it, the sinophobia and americosentrism of the arguement "If we don't do it china will" without even thinking about not doing it at all. It's kind of sad because I've been listening to them for a long time, they have always been kind of too much tech optimists, it just got too much for me now. I'll be getting some extra backlog stuff from Skeptics with a K instead, I guess they are the new skeptics podcast that is it for me.

I still see curl -fSsL xxx | sudo bash around in instructions, and I'm really worried that people are stupid enough to actually execute things like that...
