Choose 26.04 LTS for long-term maintenance or 26.10 for a regular upgrade cycle. Compare support dates first.
October 2026 → July 2027: nine months. No LTS extended maintenance; upgrade before support ends.
Compare 26.10 and LTS, and plan upgradesStandard maintenance until May 2031; Ubuntu Pro until May 2036, free for personal use on up to five machines. The separate Legacy add-on extends coverage to May 2041.
