FundAction is an activist-led participatory grantmaking fund. We shift decision-making power over funding from funders to affected communities and activists.
FundAction brings together a growing community of grassroots activists who decide together what gets funded.
All FundAction members share a commitment to deep transformative change in their daily work.
Since 2017, grassroots activists from 28 countries across Europe and the SWANA region have come together to decide collectively on our membership, what gets funded and how the fund itself operates.
The group carried out The “No-Bridge Advocacy Project” with the primary objective being to raise awareness and promote informed dialogue about the impact of the proposed Strait of Messina Bridge on the communities of Messina, Villa San Giovanni, and Reggio Calabria.
As it happens, hosting a gathering of radical activists in the middle of the “Flamingo Revolution” provides a good dose of clarity that the global grant-making sector desperately needs.
We are guided by the following core values: democracy, inclusivity, openness, peer-to-peer working, transparency, trust, respect, autonomy, anti-oppression and anti-discrimination. Our values determine how we run our processes and how we decide and engage with each other in the FundAction community.
