Long live the queens. SIX THE MUSICAL will play its final performance at the Lena Horne Theatre on January 3, 2027. The production just recently celebrated its 2,000th performance on Broadway, and is the 40th longest running show in Broadway history.

SIX debuted at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2017. The production began performances on Broadway in February 13, 2020, just before the COVID-19 pandemic. It was the first Broadway production to re-open after the shut down on October 3, 2021, and went on to win the 2022 Tony Award for Best Original Score.

Co-directed by Lucy Moss and Jamie Armitage, SIX features choreography Carrie-Anne Ingrouille, scenic design by Emma Bailey, costume design by Gabriella Slade, lighting design by Tim Deiling, sound design by Paul Gatehouse, orchestrations by Tom Curran and music supervision by Joe Beighton.

The current Broadway cast includes Khaila Wilcoxon as “Catherine of Aragon”, Chloe Tucker Caine as “Anne Boleyn”, Natalie Paris as “Jane Seymour”, Olivia Donalson as “Anna of Cleves”, Aime Atkinson as “Katherine Howard” and Stephanie Jae Park as “Catherine Parr”.

Prince’s PURPLE RAIN is officially heading to Broadway! The stage adaptation of the hit movie musical will begin performances March 12, 2027 at the Majestic Theatre, ahead of an April 12th opening night.

The musical made its world premiere in October 2025 at the State Theatre in Minneapolis, Minnesota. New creative team members have been announced for the upcoming Broadway run, including Saheem Ali (Buena Vista Social Club) directing, Peter Duchan (Dogfight) penning the book, Justin Townsend designing lights and Gareth Owen designing sound. Previous members of the creative team continuing with the production include choreographer Ebony Williams, music supervisor, orchestrator and arranger Jason Michael Webb, scenic designer David Zinn, video and projection designers Nathan Amzi and Joe Ransom, costume designer Montana Levi Blanco, hair and wig designer Cookie Jordan, and makeup designer Kyle Krueger.

PURPLE RAIN is based on the 1984 film about the rise to stardom of a rock musician from Minneapolis, starring music legend Prince. The soundtrack features iconic songs by the seven-time Grammy Award winner; “I Would Die 4 U”, “When Dove’s Cry”, and “Let’s Go Crazy” are among the hit songs featured in the movie as well as the upcoming musical. Prince earned an Oscar and a Grammy for his work on the film, and by 1996, the album “Purple Rain” was certified 13-times Platinum. In 2016, the legendary artist passed away.
