I'm just a nerd who is going to try to get into a blogging habit. I'm a SysAdmin by day. I like spending time with my family, history, reading, tinkering with tech, and I'm a hobbyist beekeeper.

What's with the name?

The handle I've chosen to use, ZombeeBytes, is the creation of one of my adult children. I'm not nearly as creative as she is. I asked her to come up with something I could use as a handle on Mastodon. This is one of the ideas she came up with. Why am I doing this with a psuedonym?

There are a couple of reasons. One of my interests is privacy. I care about privacy. I spend time reading about it and trying to improve my privacy. The idea of giving out personal details that are tied back to my real name makes me uncomfortable. This is part of why I've put off blogging. I'm not perfect with what I do, but I take steps to be more private. I use masked emails, I give false names when I can, I use fake birthdays, I use Privacy.com for masked cards; to name a few. What do I plan to blog about?

I have no real agenda for this. I plan to blog about whatever might be interesting to me at the moment. I've come to enjoy the "small web" movement. I enjoy reading personal blogs about all kinds of different topics, even things I personally have no interest in. If I follow someone and they have a post about getting into knitting, or whatever, I'll read it. I enjoy the human element. So my goal here is to post whatever I feel like. I've wanted to get into blogging for quite a few years. I've always let perfect be the the enemy of good enough. I've had plans and spun my wheels trying to have everything just right. I just started using Standard Notes after sitting on the fence about it for a while.
