Accessibility Statement

Fable was created out of a desire for a more equitable online world. Accessibility is not just something we do. It is at the heart of who we are and how we operate.

Our mission is to empower people with disabilities to participate, contribute, and shape society. We do this by helping organizations include people with disabilities throughout product development, research, testing, training, and decision-making.

We advise our customers to build with feedback from real people throughout the product development lifecycle, and we hold ourselves to that same standard.

This accessibility statement describes how Fable works to make our products, our website, our internal operations and communications accessible to people with disabilities.

How we approach accessibility

Fable’s accessibility work is guided by the lived experience of people with disabilities, including people who use assistive technology every day. Our products and services are designed, researched, and improved through direct input from our community of testers with disabilities, not just tested against a checklist, but shaped by real feedback and preferences

Inside our company

  • We work to embed accessibility across our organization by:
  • Making accessibility part of leadership, product, design, engineering, marketing, customer success, and operations decisions
  • Hiring for diversity and providing accommodations for employees and candidates
  • Choosing internal collaboration tools with accessibility in mind
  • Considering accessibility in procurement and technology selection
  • Providing accessibility training and learning opportunities for employees
  • Encouraging certification and specialization cross-functionally
  • Creating accessible internal communications and events

In our digital products

  • We work to make our website, platform, and learning experiences accessible by:
  • Practicing inclusive design from the earliest stages of product development
  • Conducting accessibility research and manual testing with people who use assistive technologies and have access needs in real-world conditions
  • Reviewing key flows regularly for compatibility and usability
  • Running automated accessibility checks as a supplement to user testing, not a substitute for it
  • Tracking accessibility issues and prioritizing improvements based on real user impact

In our community

Fable’s community of people with disabilities is central to our work. Our community’s expertise and lived experience is what makes our accessibility research credible to our customers who rely on it. We support our community by:

  • Offering flexible work opportunities
  • Providing fair compensation for participation
  • Creating pathways for learning and growth
  • Offering technical support through our community helpline
  • Creating opportunities for people with disabilities to shape Fable’s products, services, and strategy

Accessibility standards and conformance

While we strive to go beyond compliance and focus on real-world usability, we respect the importance of conformance. Fable uses recognized accessibility standards and guidelines to inform our work, including the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG).

For Fable Engage, Fable maintains an Accessibility Conformance Report prepared using the VPAT® 2.4 Rev INT template. The most recent report documents Fable Engage against EN 301 549 V3.2.1, which incorporates WCAG 2.1 Level A and Level AA success criteria.

A current Accessibility Conformance Report for Fable Engage is available on request. To request a copy, contact info@makeitfable.com.

Fable Engage

Fable Engage enables our customers to build with feedback from real people throughout the product development lifecycle, and that’s how we build and maintain Engage, too.

As our platform for accessibility research, testing, and collaboration, it’s used by customers, employees, and Fable community members to create, manage, complete, and review accessibility research and testing activities.

Every day, the platform is used by people who rely on screen readers, screen magnification, alternative navigation, keyboard-only navigation, voice control, and other assistive technologies, along with people who have cognitive access needs.

Fable tests Fable Engage the same way we help our customers test their own products:

  • Compatibility Tests, which identify whether assistive technology users encounter blockers in key workflows
  • Self-Guided Tasks, which evaluate accessible usability using Fable’s Accessible Usability Scale
  • Manual testing by people with disabilities using their own assistive technologies in real-world environments
  • Automated accessibility testing using axe-core in the development pipeline
  • Accessibility QA and issue tracking as part of product development

Across key Fable Engage flows tested between 2024 and 2026, screen reader, screen magnification, and alternative navigation users completed tested tasks successfully. Tested flows included activities such as logging in, creating projects, creating research requests, reviewing results, sharing clips, configuring dashboards, and using administrative features.

Any known conformance issues are tracked and prioritized for remediation when/if they are uncovered. Where needed, Fable provides support or alternative ways to access information.

Fable Upskill

Fable Upskill is our accessibility learning platform, and we build it the same way we teach others to: with real people, not assumptions.

It is used and tested by people who use screen readers, screen magnification, alternative navigation, and other assistive technologies, along with people who have cognitive access needs.

The primary learner flow, completing a learning module, is tested with assistive technology users. Fable continues to monitor and improve the accessibility and usability of Fable Upskill based on feedback from learners, customers, and people with disabilities.

Fable website

Our website is where people come to learn about Fable: our products, our services, our community, and the work we do. Our standard is that it should be just as accessible as everything else we build.

We design and review it with people who use assistive technologies and a range of access needs in mind, not as an afterthought. We check it during major updates, follow accessible design and content practices, and make it easy to tell us when something isn’t working.

Social media and third-party platforms

Fable shares content on third-party platforms, including LinkedIn and YouTube. We aim to make the content we publish accessible by providing text alternatives, captions, and accessible copy where supported.

Because these platforms are owned and maintained by third parties, we cannot control the accessibility of every part of the experience. If you have trouble accessing Fable content on a third-party platform, please contact us and we will do our best to provide the information in another format.

Continuous improvement

At Fable, we don’t think of accessibility as something to “finish”, it’s something we keep iterating on, the same way our customers do. Standards change, technology changes, and people’s needs change, so our work has to keep changing with them.

We review and update this statement as our products, testing practices, and accessibility efforts evolve. And we genuinely want to hear from you, customers, community members, or anyone else, if something’s not working, so we can find it and fix it.
