Hello π ! This is #phosh's new fediverse presence. It'll have phosh's release announcements and posts/boosts of related projects. Looking forward to an interesting and bright Linux mobile future π±
Many thanks to fosstodon for hosting us for so long!
Phosh's caffeine quick setting (β) can be used to prevent the system from going idle and from suspending.
This can be tweaked now so that one can have the system go idle but not suspend.
Very useful on Qualcomm based π± so one can prevent the system from suspending (to receive incoming phone calls and SMS) but still have blank and lock work as expected.

Glad to see that @purism is moving towards newer #Phosh:
Sam captured today;s #cellbroadcast test messages from #AusAlert in Australia on two devices running #phosh , one with @fedora , the other one with @postmarketOS π₯³ .
@nikodunk submitted a nice merge request to improve the transition from the running application to the overview π€©:

Nice review of @postmarketOS with #Phosh on a Raspberry Pi5
The just merged load-meter status icon plugin by johnwa is the first "real" (as in non-demo) Β plugin to make use of the top-bar plugin infrastructure implemented by @arunmani . It shows the CPU load sampled as a time graph.
We were discussing hiding & disabling preinstalled apps on immutable images at PCM26 and recently with the @postmarketOS #duranium folks.
We now have some bits that allow to hide those (and other) applications. There's plenty of more work needed for different app types (e.g. we can do better for webapps) so help here is appreciated.
With our changes to Phosh's first-boot in 0.55 and the recent changes in mobile settings we can now finally go full circle on immutable images:
- Set up the initial user via systemd-homed
- Perform OS upgrades from the mobile settings app using systemd-sysupdate
This Β landed in Phosh's nightly images already but will hopefully also become useful for other immutable phone distros like @postmarketOS #Duranium .
As the systemd org.freedesktop.sysupdate1 interface is bound to change to #varlink in 262 this is currently rather minimal and will be tweaked in future releases but it makes things already usable without having to resort to the command line.
#Phosh users on #postmarketOS #edge π before upgrade :

Such breakage on postmarketOS is thankfully extremely rare π.
(Don't get confused by the name gnome-settings-daemon-mobile is totally unrelated to Phosh).
We've release #Livi 0.5.0, our light video player for mobile πΌ . It now shows a proper status page when processing a URL (by @tpikonen ) and can (optionally) avoid display notches in landscape mode when the #Wayland compositor sends the necessary information (e.g. #phoc does). It's already updated in #Debian and on #flathub.
We were a bit too busy at last weekends Phosh contributors meeting to keep you fully informed here, in the #fediverse, sorry for that.
Here's a look back at what happened: https://ev.phosh.mobi/blog/pcm26-bits/
Thanks to @ev for organizing the event! πββοΈ
PSA for distributions that use an older phoc with current phosh:
Starting from Phosh 0.56.0 (planned release date 2026-07-05) components like stevia (and likely phosh) will depend on phoc >= 0.55 (and thus #wlroots 0.20).
While it was always recommended to have the versions of the components of the stack in sync, some distros use phoc as old as 0.44.0 / wlroots 0.17 (from 2024). This already causes various issues for users but the session would at least start.
This won't be the case for 0.56.0 and later versions, unless you revert the changes. For 0.56 this will be rather small changes but it will become more involved over time so please update the compositor.
You can completely ignore this message if phosh, phoc and stevia are the same version.
