    On 9/11 2001, the US closed its airspace after unfathomable terrorist attacks. Flights bound for the US were forced to divert, with many opting to land in Canada. Under Operation Yellow Ribbon, the small town of Gander, NL and the surrounding communities accepted 38 planes.
