If I get hacked and I get 85% of my funds back, the only thing I'll do is thank the white hacker.
15% is a very cheap real lesson.
White hat = I get hired to hack. My compensation is whatever is agreed to before I hack.
Grey hat = I hack without prior permission, but return all funds unconditionally. My compensation is whatever the hacked deem appropriate.
Black hat = I hack and decide my pay myself.
