Gemini Omni Flash is officially out! 🚀 It has been incredible working on the model pretraining, landing cool features in video editing, and pushing the 3D/camera capabilities in Omni. Seeing it live at #GoogleIO is surreal. 😍😇 Took countless days of no to little sleep. But

I wrote about this an year ago and this is still relevant today: yashbhalgat.github.io/blog/phd-or-no… To December PhD applicants: if your goal is to work on frontiers of video, 3D, or large multimodal models, take a hard look at the landscape before you sign up for a 5-year commitment.

I am glad @Michael_J_Black acknowledges this. I have myself been contemplating the futility of academic research for a year now. However, I see many academics still in denial, tweaking niche approaches for problems already being solved by better multimodal data and scale.

We’re sharing a solution to the Navier-Stokes Millennium Prize Problem, one of the deepest problems at the frontier of mathematics. The proof was produced by a group of agents, using an OpenAI next-generation model significantly more capable than GPT-6 Astra. The problem
