Det er længe siden, jeg har været på Mastodon, men jeg ville lige skrive til alle, der var så søde at hjælpe mig på vej i foråret i projektet uden big tech, at det er nomineret til Anders Bordings Idé-pris. Jeg er meget stolt og bare så glad for al den vidensdeling, det var med til at skabe. I var en helt central del i den erfaring, som projektet gav mig og andre. Jeg er virkelig glad! Tak 🙏

I got my #VT100 working again!
My replacement EEPROM for the original four 8316Es works, and my board requires no changes to the mainboard (no W2/W3).
Super happy!

I changed the inverter logic to use a 74AHC1G14 which should be more than fast enough. I went for an SO-553 package which was kind of a pain to solder, but it went ok. I didn't finish soldering, but hopefully I can test tomorrow.

Well, it didn't work, because it seemed that the BC847 was much too slow. It took 1.88 us before the base voltage (blue line) starts to climb noticeably , and it takes 380 ns to reach 5 V, and the CE pulses have a period of around 1 us.
The result is a nonfunctional, garbled display. I guess my board keeps driving the data bus for much too long which breaks both execution and DMA transfers to the line buffer. Maybe it also affects character ROM lookups, but I'm not sure.
Is it just me or does "What's this?" from 'The Nightmare Before Christmas' sound an awful lot like "The Fratelli Chase" from 'The Goonies'?

Saying that large language models feel pain because they have been trained to avoid certain actions is like saying that calculators can breastfeed because you can spell out BOOBS on them.
Today I passed my exam for #climbing Instructor 1 which covers #bouldering and top rope climbing (climbing and belaying), gear, procedures, safety, etc.
It is the basic instructor level which is mostly intended for school teachers etc. who do not climb themselves but need to oversee climbing activities.
I want to do Instructor 2 as well which covers lead climbing (and belaying), but that's probably at least six months away.

400 km og 24 timer i selskab med hundrede andre forældrepar senere sidder jeg nu som med med granatchok i min sofa, men så har vi da overstået forældreweekend og blevet enige om en festpolitik på efterskolen.
.. men barnet så da ud til at trives i den times tid, der samlet set kunne afsættes til os.

Over the past few months, I have found myself under the spotlight on kernel mailing lists. What started as targeted discussions quickly turned into advocating for the kernel community to respect the mostly silent crowd of developers and maintainers who do not want to fully embrace AI usage. It appears this didn't go unnoticed, as shown by Jon Corbet's talk at Kernel Recipes. (1/5)
