After listening to @stefano EuroBSD presentation about disaster recovery of 142 servers at a data center https://events.eurobsdcon.org/2026/talk/KAEQA8/ , I was updating my homelab DR scenarios to see how they would fare if I needed to recover - especially if "appliance" devices needed to be recovered to different hardware.

So far...not everything is able to be recovered to different hardware. So, I am learning...

Spending the weekend camping, biking geocaching, and trying out StreetComplete https://streetcomplete.app/ to update OpenStreetMap. It was fun to bike around and add 300 minor edits for the state recreation area. I also tried Vespucci https://github.com/MarcusWolschon/osmeditor4android to add new features not previously mapped- a few restrooms and a bike repair station. #OpenStreetMap

Ultimately, it is nice to be able to use maps entirely offline (OsmAnd app), and to update the map to help others.

Temperature around 95F / 35C, so plenty of water was consumed. Time to poke the campfire to get ready for dinner.

Does this appear to be a scam, fraud, or error?
Someone booked a flight via Expedia this morning with my wife's name, and used an Expedia account with a gmail address that differs only by a dot in the username part from her Expedia account. Gmail identifies that the dotted email and the non-dotted email are the same account, but Expedia treats them as two accounts.
They used a credit card (not our credit card - the last 4 numbers didn't match), have a phone number in a different area code, upgraded to reserved seats, and bought travel insurance for a nonrefundable ticket scheduled in 2 days.

Expedia routed my inquiry to their internet security team - I don't anticipate hearing back from anyone. I don't know they would be able to add the email address since they wouldn't be able to verify the receipt of email (assuming Expedia does this).

I checked her Google account - no logins from unexpected devices/locations in the past 28 days (as far as the Google account shows).

With our last name, there is a remote possibility that someone has her same name, but not anyone we've met.

Suggestions, info links? I am making shelving for displaying LEGOs/painted miniatures, and am looking at adding addressable RGBW LED strips. 5 shelves x 8 ft segments (total 40 ft / 12.2 m), connected to a US standard 120v outlet. Before I try to sort through LLM generated "recommendations" and online stores with millions of nearly identical products, are there anything I should look for or avoid (links to well written technical info is optimal)? BTW, there is no way it will access the internet, but if it needs wifi based control, I can isolate it on an IOT network. DIY kits/programmable dev board is acceptable - I can put it in an enclosure under the shelving. Thanks! ​
