Hi all,

I've had a few instances of people contacting me about the site of xwinman.org

When I mirrored it, I did say as just that -- a mirror of the information, which is found here:

I've no intention of letting that go.

But, it seems there's a few people who are disputing the legality of these pages. and/or, wishing to clone the content for themselves and "modernise the CSS".

This seems odd to me. and should not happen.

To this end, I've added the mirrored files of xwinman.org here:

... and want anyone to know that these are the official files from the original mirror.

Hey all -- for those of you interested on #opentmux I'd like your opinion. What do I do with this codebase? I don't sent to chase feature-parity with tmux -- but at the same time, there could be a perceived stagnation if I do nothing.

I've asked the same question on the #opentmux IRC channel on irc.libera.chat

But do please let me know what you'd like me to work on next. One person has suggested "stability" -- anything else?

So, for a while now I've been working in creating a web site for a more maintained set of information for #motif programming, xlib programming, etc.

It's perhaps a work in progress still, but the idea is to pull together all of the tidbits of information that's been floating about recently.

I wouldn't usually get political here, but I think it's sickening how a madman has garnered millions of pounds when there's plenty of other institutional open source projects which we rely on every day who''ll never get to this level of monetary support.

I do try in my own way to support the projects I love where I can -- #freebsd, #openbsd, #gameoftrees, etc., all of which I've put some level of money behind.

Don't neglect the power of this -- and don't listen to the hype around some fascist's projects building up millions of pounds.

Your individual support means more than you could know.

I absolutely love #gameoftrees, for example, and I know my paid for VM goes a long way to supporting that project. See? You can make a difference and not even realise it. :)

Not a bad offering by Paul (oftentimes he can get a bit laborious at times).

This crossword is semi-themed on children's humour -- and in typical Paul fashion was a little potty at times.

That aside, I did like the following clue:

2dn: "Musician, ‘experienced’ performer ultimately, one inspired by voodoo? (7)"

Without having any letters, I knew the answer to this would be:

HENDRIX

That's because of the "Experienced", and "voodoo" references. ("Are You Experienced" is a great album. And "Voodoo Chil(e|d)" is a famous song of his.

This being said, the clue itself is an example of an &lit clue -- where the entire clue itself is both the definition and the wordplay.

An envelope of NDR (‘musiciaN experienceD performeR ultimately’) plus I (‘one’) in HEX (‘voodoo’),

Brilliant. :)

Perhaps about once a year, on average, I might get an email from someone who asks if I'd be willing to be interviewed, or hold some sort of Q&A.

I've always politely declined.

I've never wanted to be in the limelight for whatever definition of "work" that I might do, or the interests I hold.

Why? Because I don't represent everyone who's ever worked on the projects I contribute to, and I would feel uncomfortable representing them in that capacity. Everything I do has some sort of team effort behind, it, and for me, that's the important thing. It wouldn't surface correctly if the assumption were that I am somehow spear-heading a given $PROJECT.

So thank you to everyone who contributes to any project out there -- your contribution(s) small, or otherwise will make a difference, and never forget that even though someone else might reap some sort of reward from that, you were the one who helped prop that up. :)

@drj -- this motif font editor is awesome.

I've got a massive book by O'Reilly on Fonts, and I've never really read it. I bought it because back in the day it seemed like something I'd be interested in.

My knowledge of fonts stopped at the XLFD specification which quickly became out of date, alas.

What was interesting about xmbdfed though is the way glyphs (if that's the correct word?) were created on a grid. This instantly reminded me of a similar concept on the BBC Micro, alas, I cannot recall the name of the program now.
