A Quick Tip for Anyone Going Into a Technical Interview

I’ve written before on this blog about doing technical interviews for Lemon.io — a community of developers that works kind of like a middleman, matching devs with projects. I think I have at least one article here about the interview side of things already, but after some recent experiences I figured I’d start dropping the...

Electric scooters in my neighborhood, and parents who don’t see the danger

Every time I walk around my neighborhood — we live in a residential area on the edge of Arad which, technically, is private land, because it doesn’t belong to the city hall yet and the streets haven’t been handed over — I see, especially in spring and summer, that the electric scooter thing has really...

Diversity Visa 2025: a whole year of “maybe, maybe not”

I’ve written before on this blog about how the Diversity Visa process actually works in detail — steps, documents, the interview, all of it. I won’t repeat all the mechanics here, but it’s worth a quick reminder of the framework, because this post is more about how the past year actually went for us, not...

My Hidden Obsession: Bags

I’m at Auchan right now, and I thought I’d write this post from here, since it’s directly connected to what I want to say. If I had to pick one thing I can honestly call a mini-obsession, it would be bags and backpacks. Everywhere I’ve traveled, I’ve come back with a bag. When I was...

The “Free” Shuttle Scam in Italy

Recently we spent 10 days in Italy, a kind of vacation. Of course I still worked a bit during it (yeah, whoever knows me knows I can’t fully stop), but I still enjoyed the beach, took breaks, worked in the evenings sometimes. It was a nice period overall. But I want to tell you about...

AI-made posters: let’s not embarrass ourselves

Lately I keep seeing it on social media, especially on Facebook: promoting your event with a poster made with AI. And that’s ok, let’s be clear. Not everyone has friends who know graphic design, not everyone can do it themselves, not everyone has the option. From that point of view, AI actually helps. What bothers...

What I Look For When Interviewing Senior Developers

A few months ago I started doing technical interviews for a developer platform that primarily accepts senior web developers. Since then I’ve interviewed a large number of candidates and, for consistency, I’ve mostly used the same practical coding exercise that I wrote from scratch. The task itself is intentionally simple. You receive three API clients....

Blog revamp – spring 2026 edition

The last redesign I did on this blog was sometime in 2020, back when COVID was still a thing and I had plenty of free time. Since then, I haven’t really changed much around here. And even though I really liked that design, I’ve kind of gotten bored of it, and it started to feel...

Re AI: its the first one :)) more on it later.

Interesting one — the interruption thing especially. I wonder how much of that habit comes from candidates trying to signal…
