This afternoon, I made this lemon cake because 1. I had an open container of ricotta I wanted to use up before it spoiled, and 2. I've been looking for a nut-free alternative to my favorite lemon cake since one of my nieces has a tree nut allergy. It turns out I did not have enough ricotta, but I made it up with sour cream, and the cake seems fine. It did stick to the pan in one small spot so I didn't take a picture of it since it had a gash in it, but it tastes great. The trick of adding turbinado sugar to the glaze to make it crunchy is a good one, too.

I also made dressing for coleslaw, which I've never done before - always just bought the pre-made deli version - and it's ok, not great. Not tangy enough, tbh. I wonder if replacing some of the mayo with buttermilk is the way to go. I ate some with a steak I pan-fried for dinner and that was nice. I don't have steak very often, but sometimes it goes on sale and I get it.

We're supposed to be getting between 12"-18" of snow tomorrow/Monday (wait, I just checked, and the current forecast is 39% likelihood of at least 18" if not more, wow), and I'm supposed to go into the office on Tuesday, so I guess we'll see what actually materializes, whether the streets are cleaned, and how I feel on Tuesday morning. Supposedly we're getting a free lunch, but I don't know when the consultant who is supposed to be buying it for our in person meeting is flying in, idk what is going to happen. There was some back and forth on Teams today about the storm and they are notifying everyone to be remote on Monday, which is the smart choice.

Anyway, my menu is not very cozy - I was planning on making that lemony macaroni salad for lunches, and some baked oatmeal with cherries and chocolate chips for breakfast. I do have bread, milk, and eggs, so there could always be French toast! Though I did make that on Wednesday when I realized it was Ash Wednesday (and that I'd completely forgotten Shrove Tuesday). I'll probably have pasta for dinner tomorrow regardless, since it's Sunday.

Today, I watched Batman Ninja, which features the Batfamily time traveling back to feudal Japan (but so much Joker and I am so tired of Joker), and then its sequel, Batman vs. the Yakuza League, which I enjoyed more because it has Wonder Woman in it and she's fantastic as always. It also features I guess this is a spoiler ) It was weird to me though that we got 4 Batboys (Jason's feudal Japan headgear is HILARIOUS), but no Cass or Babs at all, and I didn't love the art for Selina. Someday we'll get an animated version of Wayne Family Adventures and the girls and Duke will get their due!

You can't have your cake and eat it too, but you can have these cat memes.

This English proverb didn't gain popular recognition for nothing. The proverb literally means "you cannot simultaneously retain possession of a cake and eat it, too". If the cake is eaten, then it's gone. There's no going back. You can't have two incompatible things at once, or at least you should try not to have them. You can't have the best of both worlds, you have to give up something for something else. But let's talk about actual cake. Being a baker and cake designer is a life filled with flour, dust, and imagination. Colors and sticky frostings surround you as you wake up before the sun where the kitchen is quiet and everything feels silly already. There's something so comforting about measuring ingredients and slowly cracking eggs one at a time into a bowl. The level of precision is immaculate, and it's both a science, an art, and an expression.

Bakers learn patience, dough needs time to rise, and cakes need cooling. You can also put cats on cakes! There's no saying you can't. And if you have one cat, you don't have to listen to the above proverb. You can have your cat, your cake, and eat whatever you please. Meaning you can have your cat, cake, and still lazily scroll funny cat memes for the weekend (or work week). Enjoy these silly cat memes for the whole family.

Hello….is there anybody in there? Just not if you can see me…is there anyone home?

Pink Floyd, anyone? Have you ever felt like you were present, but not? You're looking at someone, maybe even talking, but then you're also somewhere else entirely. Where is that place? Well, maybe it's some dissociated part of you, a lost memory, an image you saw once that your brain fixated on and drips into your consciousness at some inopportune time, forcing you into a deep contrition for saying, "what?" five times when someone asks you what you want to order. Pink Floyd's 1979 Comfortably Numb resonates with dissociation in that it evokes a detached, yet vulnerable voice that sounds just like it's floating in space, and the other side of bombastic guitar work and orchestration that feels like the song is simultaneously rapaciously extending for something else. The contrast gives the track emotional power. It's dreamlike, haunting, and also powerful.

And dissociation? It's the same – like you're detached from oneself, experiencing everything as if you're a third party watching. Floating maybe, transcended from reality, or lost in your own dream. And sometimes we look at our cats, and they look completely lost. "Not again," you think as you pet them with their sprawled eye contact, their empty countenance, and their absolute torpor. That's why this hilarious collection of dissociated cat memes lost in the cosmos is purrfect for silly weekend scrolls. Enjoy!

Meow yourself into the weekend chill - Caturday is here!

When the Earth rotates and changes the date from Friday to Saturday, all cat pawrents know one thing - they're going to have a much better weekend than all the rest. It's not just a regular Saturday, where after a whole week of work, you're just happy to be off work - meaning, you still think about work. It's a much more special day, because you're about to spend it all with your cat. And that, friends, is what makes a Caturday. So we're always happy that Caturday comes around - because it means a lot more cat time!

Cuddling with your cat, playing with your cat, petting your cat, giving treats to your cat and seeing how happy they are - all these cat activities are multiplied during Caturday, and that means the happiness bar becomes so high it breaks the roof. There's nothing happier than being with a cat, with no other worry in your head. And what better way is there to do that, if not on a Caturday? So grab your cat, get comfy, and enjoy some cat quality time sparkled with cat memes.

Even the most adored man in the world, the "heavenly sovereign", understood there's a being much higher than him - his cat.

It's a truth shared by all cat pawrents, and our status, stature, and financial situation don't matter in acknowledging that cats are superior to us. Since the domestication of cats (or, rather, the human domestication done by cats), people saw something in them that they didn't see in other animals. Sure, dogs are loyal companions and generally cute, and yeah, birds are beautiful, but cats are something different. They don't need to demand respect to get it. It's as if they have an aura that meowgically makes everyone around them revere their feline fabulousness - even the Japanese emperor.

Cats are literally the kings and queens of our lives, which makes them sort of emperors themselves. They govern the living room, rule the bed and all comfy places around the house, and collect the treat and pet tax with meowing might. They are sovereign over their domestic kingdoms with an iron paw. And us? As humans, we're mere peasants in their world. Cats rule our lives, and we're happy to serve.

Well, that makes purrfect sense. She is the dog's cat, after all.

We're not opposed to dogs at all, in fact, we think they're adorable. They just don't fit our lifestyle as much as cats do. But one of the thing we love about dogs is that they love everyone and everything, even cats! We're not even entertaining the outdated stereotype of cats and doggos being mortal enemies, and this wholesome story purractically proves it. Buckle up, because it's quite a journey.

Banana, our stray cat, was once the head of a feral colony in the pawrent's neighborhood. After some time earning her trust, they were able to get her inside, only to discover that she was pregnant! Too weak to get spayed, they were advised by a vet to wait until after her birth to get her fixed. All the kittens went to loving homes, but no one wanted poor Banana. Kittens are easily adoptable, but a semi-feral momma cat, not so much.

During her time at the hooman's house, her and the pawrent's doggo developed a beautiful friendship. Admittedly "not a cat person", the pawrent originally wanted to give them up for adoption, but after their doggo showed how much he missed Banana, they couldn't resist keeping her. As you'll see below, the two are as thick as thieves, often seen grooming each other and cuddling. There's nothing more heartwarming than the purrre love between two unlikely friends.

Although Banana's story is a heartwarming one, we want to remind you that there are many older cats in need of adoption in shelters just like Banana. They might not be as cute as a kitten, but they are just as loving. Give them a chance, they might just change your life.

Is there anything better than the smell of a freshly-brewed cup of coffee? Well, cats, of course! But today, you don't have to choose - enjoy these purrfectly cute cat memes alongside your meowrning coffee to make your weekend pawsitively wonderful.

One of life's simple joys is heading to your favorite cafe on the weekends. We know you can save money by making your own coffee at home, but where's the fun in that? There's something special about sipping on a cup of coffee made by a purrfessional barista while watching the world go by. The caffeine and the scenery set us up for a purrfect weekend, if not for it missing one crucial thing: cats.

You can't take a cat to a cafe like you can with a dog. Well, technically you can, but we don't think our cats would like it very much. So how can we combine our two furvorite things to make our weekend pawsitively purrfect? If we can't bring our cats to the cafe, then we'll have to bring the closest thing to cats we can carry in our pocket. And that thing is cat memes.

These cuteness-containing feline funnies go purrfectly with a hot cat-puccino, a milky latte, or even a feline flat white. Them, plus the caffeine from your coffee, are sure to brew you a better weekend with this recipe for silliness.

Don't give up the things in life that make you happy, life is too short for that. Have a great Caturday!

Some cats are born just a little different than others, and that doesn't mean that there's something wrong with them.

There are many things that cats have in common. Pretty much all cats love soft and fluffy blankets. And practically all cats will try to steal food off your plate when you're not looking. And essentially all cats will have zoomies in the middle of the night and run right across your face at full speed - at least once in their lives. But even though they have a lot in common, all cats are still unique in their own ways - from the way that they behave to the way that they look.

Some cats go through all kinds of experiences that leave these cats looking unique. Other cats are born a little chunky and remain that way, no matter how much you try to change that. Some cats are born huge and don't stop growing - and they're not some special breed or something, they're just really large regular cats. And then there are tiny kittens that turn into just-as-tiny cats. That happens too. As long as your kitty is healthy, then you should have no cause for concern. You just have a forever kitten. And that's pretty cute.

Cannot BELIEVE I still have an SPN icon!

Anyway ... I first started making fanvids for fun in 2002, but I began posting them on LJ in 2006, and since 2026 is therefore my 20th anniversary of posting the first one (#what) and I've been wanting to get more of them on AO3, I decided to make that a project for this year!

So here's my 2006 one and only Supernatural vid, Life is a Highway.

This isn't the first one I put online, but of the 2006 vids I think it's probably one of my favorites and a good one to start with. Contains clips up to late season one because that's all I'd watched at that point and most of what was available. Here's the original LJ-imported-to-DW post. Please enjoy this dive into an alternate reality a moment in time when season one of Supernatural was literally All There Was.

Some notes if you'd rather read them afterwardsObviously at this point all I have is the exported file rather than the original vidding files (as this was at least 5 computers ago) so 2006 quality is what you're getting, including some slight wonkiness with jerky video and slightly odd cropping (I was screencapturing the video, which explains both the slight borders that occasionally appear - I got a lot better at cropping later - and a few instances of jerkiness as my 2006 computer struggled to render the video). The credits also include my original 2000s-era LJ name, which some of you may remember.

IIRC, I was making these earliest vids on a really old copy of Adobe Premiere that I had absconded with from my college computer lab in the 1990s.

Also posted on AO3.

If you want a 12 Mb download in 2006 quality, you can download it here!

Also, an interesting bit of context on the 20th anniversary vidding project - I discovered recently that I uploaded a bunch (most? all?) of my older vids to Vimeo in 2016 on the private setting, so apparently I was planning a *10th* anniversary vidding project, but got derailed somehow. What is time.

The minute you close your inbox on Friday, your cat opens cuddle mode.

Friday rolls around and suddenly those "just following up" emails can paws until Monday. The laptop closes, the inbox keeps piling up somewhere out of sight, and your cat appears like they've been monitoring your work schedule all week. You try to sneak in one last reply, but now there's a tail across the keyboard and a paw resting directly on your wrist. Clearly you've been reassigned from email duty to cuddle duty.

Cats seem to know the exact moment you log off. The second the typing stops, they're in your lap like it's part of their job description. Any attempt to check your messages gets blocked by a headbutt or a full loaf across the trackpad. You might have deadlines, but they have cuddle-lines, and those take priority. That "quick response" becomes impossible when there's a warm, purring paperweight refusing to move.

You tell yourself you'll just answer one more thing. Then the cat settles in deeper, starts purring louder, and suddenly the idea of opening your inbox feels unnecessary. The emails will still be there on Monday. The cat, however, has officially clocked you out for the weekend and is not accepting any appeals.

By this point, you're stuck in the best way. Moving would wake them, and waking them feels rude. Your out-of-office reply might not be set, but your cat has already handled it. Friday plans tend to change quickly when someone this small decides you're done working for the day.

This couple notices a tiny stray, and they do the right thing just in the nick of time.

It's easy to see a cat on the street and hope for its well-being, but it's another thing to take the cat in. This couple sees how small this kitten is, and even though she's so young, she's already pregnant! They worry for her and immediately bring her to the vet, where they decide to spay her. They love the idea of having a new kitten, but aren't prepared for the whole liter. They have a special name for her too – they name her Frida, because they see her as a feminist icon.

Street cats often carry a history you'll never fully know. Maybe they were born outside. Maybe they were lost. Maybe they learned early that the world can be unpredictable. When you choose to bring one home, you're not just offering shelter — you're offering stability. A steady food bowl. A warm place to sleep. A door that closes safely at night.Read the full story below for all the details.

When they say the Cat Distribution System works in mysterious ways - they really mean it.

When there's a raging rain storm outside, the last thing you expect to find is a screaming kitten. But such are the ways of the CDS, and the truly meowsterious ways it opperates in. It's like this secretive body / organization / witches coven, or whatever it is, can create the purrfect situation for a cat to be adopted - or at least fostered and nursed back to health, until they find their forever home. When people say that "the starts alligned" for them to adopt their cat - you know it's all thank to the Cat Distribution System.

But, as you may have already guessed, this one person really did find a kitten screaming in the rain. So while they didn't have any way to contact someone else, they decided "I will foster this flea-ridden feline and I will find them a forever home - just as any cat deserves." And we appreciate this person so much for doing so. Them, and anyone else who volunteers as a cat's foster.

Why do dog-lovers always feel the need to come for cat people? This boyfriend insisted to his girlfriend that dogs are better pets and lazy people choose cats over dogs. But then she pointed out how lazy he was, and all the dominoes started to fall.

We don't care what kind of animals you like as long as you're kind to them. We're not a huge fan of birds, but we're not going to spend our day dragging bird-lovers through the mud just because we think they're loud (the birds, not their owners). And yet, dog people love do this very thing to cat lovers. They are so vocal about their disdain for cats that they will go out of their way to make us feel like we're weirdos for preferring cats.

We're also not here to get into an argument over which one is better. They're both great, we just like cats because they fit our lifestyle better, and we think they're the cutest things in the world. It doesn't mean we think dogs are ugly, far from it! Puppies are pawsitively squeal-worthy, and some doggos are meowtrageously cute, but we still love cats more.

Well, when this boyfriend confessed to his girlfriend that he thought only lazy people liked cats, then she felt he crossed a line. She pointed out that there are some days when he never leaves the house, and said, "It's gonna be a hard adjustment having to take your dog outside to walk and play every day". She's not wrong, and she continued to call out his hypocrisy below. It's purrfectly satisfying, and a win for all of us cat-lovers everywhere.

Who doesn't need a cute cluster of funny felines to make sure you start off the weekend on the right paw?

Furidays are the hardest day of the week to concentrate. A lot of people think Monday is the worst day for concentration, but they're wrong. Mondays, you're just simply tired. But on Fridays, you're so close to the weekend that you can almost taste it, and yet, you still have 7 hours and 59 minutes left of "work" before you're free for the weekend. It's the day when minutes feel like hours, and hours feel like weeks on end. It's easy to turn into a grumpy cat when you feel like time isn't moving. We know because we're there, right now.

There's a whole lot of science mumbo-jumbo about how you can be more purroductive, but that's not what we're here to talk about. We can't meowgically make you more productive, but we can fix your mood when you're feeling down in the dumps or stuck in a rut. For these times, there is only one pawssible solution for us feline fans to flip the script and turn your daw pawsitive: cats.

We all know that cats are the solution to everything, but we're here to inform you that they're also your purrfect Friday cure to provide you feline feel goods and laughs. That way, you can finish your workday with a smile, a giggle, and a pawsitive attitude. Scroll through these fresh feline funnies that were made right here on I Can Has Cheezburger for some homegrown giggles and enjoy your weekend!

The cat meme bakery is officially open, and we are offering warm slices of happiness.

That is truly how we think about purrfect cat memes like these. They are like itty bitty doses of joy injected straight into our hearts. During even the most difficult days, when things around the world seem crazy and our purrsonal lives are no better, we know that we can always take a little break, sit down, scroll through a bunch of silly cat memes and feel a bit better. And that is something that we cherish.

Here at ICHC, we know the power of simple but funny cat memes like these. We know it because you guys and us - we are just alike. We know that if these memes make us happy, then they will make you happy as well. And we have made it our mission to bring as many of these memes as possible to as many people who need them as possible. Spread the joy. And all it takes to do it is just for you to take that five minute break that you absolutely deserve and allow yourself to gently giggle for a few minutes throughout your long day.

If you have been wronged by your cat child and feel the need for some revenge then look no further than this cathartic collection of unflattering feline photos that prove that cats are not as cool as they think they are.

Everyday they waltz around our homes like little primadonnas, waving their tails in the air like they just do not care. And the second that something goes out of place, they are up in your face about it, putting you down for what is truly a relatively minor indiscretion. It can be incredibly frustrating as a pawrent, especially as there is no way to get back at them. Mainly because any attempt to do so will result in them getting back at you even harder.

For example, if you dared to change their food out for the cheap stuff, and they will scream at you at three in the morning while standing on your chest until you give up the good stuff. So we made this collection of unflattering felines to give you a virtual way to get back at them, or at the very least to remind you that they are not as purrfect as they like to think that they are.

3…2…1…here comes cats!

There are moments in our lives that mark us furrever. It could be a bad breakup, a career choice, meeting someone you never thought you could meet, or something serendipitous. We all have bad spells, times where we're down on our luck and try our best to pick ourselves up. Sometimes it feels like nothing seems to go right, and the weight of small frustrations and bigger disappointments presses down like a storm cloud you can't shake. During these times, it can feel impossible to imagine the light returning. But lifting yourself out of a bad spell is less about the sudden or dramatic shift in your life, but about the little deliberate steps that slowly reclaim your sense of agency.

And sometimes a cat can be that shift. It may sound silly or dramatic, but it's not. Cats really have the whole package to help us grow, even if we don't realize it at the time. We don't necessarily know how bad we feel until we compare ourselves to someone else, someone who seems to have everything together. We might even look at our cats and think to ourselves, "wow, if only I was as happy and content as he is." And although it's unnecessary to compare ourselves or draw conclusions about others, cats really do have all the answers! Even if they don't go out and tell you, they're keeping secrets of life and happiness to themselves. But with a little bit of love, petting, and tuna they will reveal everything you ever wanted to know. So enjoy these adorable cats and remember life will get better.

Finding a good cat sitter is hard, but sometimes, it's the cat owner who's in the wrong.

We often talk about how difficult it is to find good cat sitters, and that is true. It is hard to find someone who you trust enough to take care of your kitty and your home. But we can admit that, sometimes, the trouble comes from the other direction too. We've heard of cat owners decide they don't want to pay their cat-sitters. We've heard of people demanding their cat-sitter pay thousands for a cat door in their own home that they will never use. We've even heard of someone asking their cat sitter to pay for cat therapy because the cat got too attached to the sitter.

Just as much as it is the cat sitter's job to respect your boundaries, it is also your job to state these boundaries clearly. If you don't want someone eating your food, tell them that. If you don't want them using that specific towel, say that too. And if you tell someone that they can help themselves to anything in the kitchen, then you better mean that and not throw a fit when they accidentally open up and drink an expensive bottle of wine that you have been keeping.

What are your hissterical cats up to today?

Even though they sleep around 18 hours a day, our cats never miss an opportunity to do something silly, which later becomes a precious memory we tell everyone we can. Just yesterday, our sweet calico cat, Coco, was playing fetch with us, chasing her little ball around the house. One of the times we threw the ball for her, she didn't really look where she was running to, and smashed into one of the walls. Obviously, nothing happened to her; she was just embarrassed at her failure. But we got to have a good laugh out of the whole thing, and a lovely memory to share.

Whenever one of our cats does something funny, we immediately go to our little live home camera and save the footage of the funny incident. So, not only do we have thousands of videos and pictures of our silly cats on our phones, but we also have hilarious security footage of all these moments we will cherish forever.

Since something silly and sweet happens almost every day, we are almost out of phone storage. So, in order to save some space, we must tell you all about these moments right here, and we can come back to read them whenever we want. Not only is it great to keep these memories alive, but if they make even one person smile, then we definitely consider our job well done. And if we are doing it, why not have you join us? You can tell us all about the latest hissterical story that happened to you, especially if you didn't get the chance to take a video or a picture of your furry friend while it happened.

In return for your purrfect stories, we offer this collection of the funniest cat memes we could find on the internet this week. Not only are they a great mood booster, but they might inspire your cats to try new and improved ways to make your day that much more memorable. And after you are done scrolling through this collection, feel free to click here for even more hissterical feline memes.
