Asami's gone. Asami Sato, for anyone who met her here.
[ He's in the Fire Nation house he shares with Azula and Zuko, sitting on the edge of his bed. Dirt scuffs a cheek, a red scarf tossed over a shoulder haphazardly and hair wind-swept. Mostly, Mako's attention remains on his hands, off-center to the screen. ]
I looked for her this morning, tried calling, but she's not ... [ Turning a sniff into clearing his throat, he rubs reddened eyes and a worried forehead. ] She's gone home. I know she's better off there, so we should all be happy for her.
[ Distinctly embittered by her loss (should have done more for her, made her happier here, been a better friend while I had the chance) he cuts the feed to dismal thoughts. ]

[ - that's one less person he needs to worry about, at least. though that's also one less of his already very-few friends.
he would say more, but holds back because of who he's speaking to. ]
Thanks for letting us know.

[ Much too depressed to be an ass today, sorry. :( ]

But Asami-san was my friend, and Korra-nee is our best friend here
And you're important to both of them
So if you need help with anything, I am around.

Thanks for the sentiment.
action;
His knuckles knock lightly at the door frame. He doesn't know if the other wants company or tea, a tray has been made and set aside just in case. Zuko doesn't let himself in after the knock, he'll wait for Mako to invite him in. ]

[ Two hours on and Mako's sitting against his headboard reading an old book from the library, dog-eared pages stained. Something like a crime thriller that can take his mind off Adstringendum for a while. ]

... hey.
[ The door shuts behind him and he stays near it for a moment, then moves to sit in the chair closest to the bed. ]

[ At least he and Asami learned how to be just friends while she was here, mostly. He's pleased with that. ]
She liked you. I know it doesn't mean much since you can't remember, but ...
[voice]
I suppose not. Perhaps I will find out again if she returns.

voice forever;
[It was kinda hard for her not to notice something was up when Asami had vanished. Couldn't hear her puttering around the house when she woke up (before noon, thank you very much). No note anywhere in the house after searching every room. The most worrying thing was when she checked the PCD and didn't see her name on the list anymore.
Now the house was even emptier. It was just her, Naga, and the hellcat that came and went as it pleased. The thought that had been plaguing her since she noticed Asami had gone was whether it was time for her to find somewhere else to live. Sure she had everything she needed, but life alone was not something that appealed to her. She had always been surrounded by other people wherever she lived. The Southern Water Tribe, the Order of the White Lotus, and then Tenzin, his family, and the Air Acolytes. The most alone she had been before was just her trip up to Republic City, and she knew that was temporary. Here in Adstringedum... she didn't know if Asami would be gone for a week again, a month from then, or if she'd ever come back at all. This sucked.]

[ Simple as. He remembers how empty the house had been when Bolin disappeared. It had to have been bigger without Mako and now, without Asami ... ]

[She really wouldn't mind Mako coming back, but without Asami... it didn't feel right. It was funny though. As soon as she mentioned possibly moving, she started remembering her attachment to the house. She had been there since she first arrived. She and Bolin had built the gym in the back and spare room off it too. There was even the well in the makeshift basement with enough space to store the surplus meat that she had frozen in thick blocks of ice.
Minus all the weird symbols on the walls, it was the closest thing to home she had here. A comfort zone that she had mixed feelings over leaving behind. She hated feeling that she'd miss the house for a while if she ever left it. Stupid sentimentalism.]
