[ A man (if one could call him such) sits on a piece of rubble, the backdrop of a cracked stone wall visible clearly behind him. Despite his proximity to the wastes, he seems unconcerned, a dark, wolf-like beast lying at his feet. Apparently deep in thought, it's a moment before he speaks. ]

I've heard tell this place is a nexus point for wandering souls -- that it terrorizes and tortures those who arrive here.

[ Glowing, yellow eyes appraise the screen coolly. ]

I say, this place is a far cry from hell.

[ He strokes the wolf's head, and after a moment, the creature growls softly. He looks back at the screen. ]

I'm in need of a blade. To those of you with knowledge of such things, I'd appreciate a little direction.

Know a lot about hell, do you?

[He chuckles lazily.]

You might like to know that we've got Beelzebub himself making this place his home.

My stay there was brief.

[ Not that he intended to stay there long, anyway; this just wasn't where he wanted to end up when he escaped. ]

I'm unfamiliar with the name.

[ Different mythos, Tony. He's not that kind of 'demon'. ]

You know, the Morning Star. The Big Man himself.

[Finally, he sighs, waving his hands dismissively.]

Satan. ...Though he goes by Luci.

[ Boomerang simply stares for a moment, glancing a Luceid briefly. The beast growls, and he returns his attention to the camera. ]

I know no one by that name.

Huh. I guess he's not a constant then. Luci'll be so disappointed.

[He chuckles dryly.]

He rules Hell in his world.

Have you ever heard the phrase, 'hell is what you make of it'?

I have. But I prefer 'hell is other people.' Always made more sense to me.

They are if you allow them to be.

[ He's yet to encounter anything living or dead that he would qualify as such, however. ]

Humanity has always been a race capable of great feats on both sides of the spectrum.

[ He doesn't sound all that surprised or impressed. He may be able to appreciate humanity's capacity to adapt, but that doesn't mean he's particularly fond of people as individuals. ]

What is it that you do?

At home? I'm an... entrepreneur. I own my own energy company.

[He smirks playfully.]

And I play superhero on the weekends.

[A shrug.]

Here? I'm a mechanic for the most part. I've gone back to my roots, I guess you could say.

You want a blade, ask for Sokka.

[That's...likely all you're going to get out of Duo right now.]

[ He doesn't mind brevity. It's information that he wants, after all. ]

I'll keep the name in mind.

How about that! Another dead guy? There ought to be a club.

-- So, sounds like you've had the whole introduction. I can't point you in the direction of any weapons myself, but -- got any other questions?

Oh, and I'm Lea.

In name, perhaps.

[ As far as he's concerned, he's alive, and until he gets the chance to take his own revenge, he won't accept anything less. ]

I've been told several accounts about scientists and creatures called the Animus.

I'm curious how many times their powers have been challenged.

Once or twice. It's ended badly. Why do you ask?

It's human nature to fight against slavery and extinction.

[ He speaks from a very literal sort of experience. ]

The process of trial and error is rarely painless.

You know, as slavery goes, this place isn't so bad. Most of us get out eventually and I haven't heard an order yet!

That said, I've been nicer places, too.

Because the powers here release us?

[ He'd rather not wait on the whims of capricious 'gods'. Not when he has a score to settle. ]

It's not so different from what I'm used to.

Oh, I don't think they have anything to do with it. If they did, they'd be getting themselves out of here, don't you think?

So-- tell me what you're used to. And, while we're at it, got a name?

It depends on what they want.

[ Zeikfried, traitorous garbage that he was, had seemed content to rule a world devoid of its original inhabitants. There was no telling what these 'spirits' might want. ]

My name is Boomerang.

The world I came from has been war-scarred and decaying for more than a thousand years.

Boomerang. So, what, you keep coming back?

[Lea thinks he's funny. He's being polite about it, though -- that's only a little grin.]

... Huh. I guess I can see how this one would look a little familiar. Not that it's been all that long!

In a manner of speaking.

[ He's known for his weapon, and his blade, the Saber Fang, does indeed return to his hand after being thrown. ]

Time generally isn't the trigger for such rapid decay.

Oh yeah? That sounds like there's a story behind it. [Lea shakes his head, glancing up from the screen briefly.] It's all part of the same thing that keeps us stuck here -- or that's what I've heard, anyway.

I don't know what a nexus is...or where Hell is, but you're not home any more.

[The little lion settles in front of his device, his own eyes glowing in the dim light of the cupboard he's recently taken residence in.] This place is called Adstringendum.

[And, because Simba just can't help himself.] What are you anyway? You look funny.

[ ...a beast that can speak. For a moment, he thinks it's a spirit of some sort, like Luceid, but there's no way to tell over this device. ]

So I've been told.

[ Idly, he lays a hand on Luceid's head. The wolf bumps against his fingers and growls softly. ]

Humans named my race 'demons' long ago. Luceid [ he indicates the wolf besides him ] is neither.

[Maybe he's a poltergeist. He's obnoxious enough to be labeled one at times.]

I've never heard of those. And he looks slobbery. [His expression is one of obvious disapproval.] And he needs to stop growling at me because that is no way to treat a king.

[ The 'wolf' growls again, and Boomerang strokes Luceid's head once again to quiet her. ]

She means no harm by it.

[ The Guardian of Desire isn't 'slobbery', either, but he doesn't comment on that. ]

A king, are you?

If you're sure...[and okay, he can admit he isn't king yet.] Future king.

I....I've still got some learning to do.[ and of course this humility is brought on by a near death experience. Any thing short of that wouldn't have deflated his ego in the slightest.]

[ A 'future king'. Well, now, that is interesting. ]

They say learning isn't something one ever outgrows.

There's no shame in seeking knowledge.

I like learning...Though sometimes its scary.
