[VOICE.]
[Last thing Sam remembers is his arm trembling and lighting up, after he'd started the Trials; the moment was already heated enough, what with Dean practically saying he was expendable, and then to see him nearly torn up like he had been so many years prior... Yeah, it was all pretty tense. But now to suddenly be here, looking around at a very unfamiliar, dystopian sort of landscape? He suddenly feels his stomach clench and a chill run up his spine, just turning in a circle, suddenly feeling like he had a year before when Dean and Castiel were just gone.
He wants to panic. Flight or fight, and he's ready to fly. Get in a car and look for Dean — he won't fuck it up, this time — but then he calms himself down and scrubs his face with his hands, getting a handle on his surging emotions at suddenly being alone, at thinking maybe, just maybe, he messed something up and the Trials literally started a crumbling future right before his eyes.
The communication device he finds is a welcomed thing. He uses it immediately to check and see if there's absolutely any information he can gather; none of it looks good. It's hours before he actually addresses the group he's found to be stuck here, because he's too busy snooping, coming to his own conclusions about... this place.
He's incredulous, but he's seen a lot in his life... so...]
Alright. So — if I said this really wasn't as crazy for me as it should be, I'm guessing I'd get a lot of people agreeing personally. A lot of you — [no scratch that] most of you seem pretty experienced when it comes to bad things getting thrown your way. In unorthodox ways. I guess what I'm trying to say is I'm new, but not to the club. My name's Sam, and if there's anything I can do to help out, I'd be more than willing; it's sort of a bad predicament for us all to be in, so anything helps, right? I have a little experience with weird situations, for whatever it's worth.
... And these Animus: what exactly do we know about them? I'm unfamiliar, but maybe if I had a little something to go off of...
[... This is totally not Sam Winchester trying to think up ways to salt and burn super tough ghostly aura people. No way. He's just saying.]
Actually, just about any history or information would be nice. I'm still kind of off from the 'crash landing' into another universe full of other universes. Not really any time to figure out heads from tails...
[Which is... muy interesting. He flexes his hand, feeling fine, despite the pain of the first trial becoming completed. If there are other universes... and his is one... then, well, hell. Maybe he'll find Dean and the others around here. Dean was literally right next to him back there, so...]
I'd appreciate the info, anyway.
Thanks in advance.

He sort of stares a little, because that's quite an answer. Not even the kind of tone he's used to when talking to civilians, pretending to be an agent or something akin to it.
but did this guy just say 'yo']That's, uh. Well, I guess a welcome is good. Don't know how many people will appreciate it, but thanks.
So.
What exactly was this situation, where they gave something nice and then messed it all up?

He knows he should be aware that Sam might not be from the same point in time as him--might not even know him--but he doesn't hesitate in contacting him anyway. He flips on the video feed and might look a bit odd to Sam, with his slightly longer hair and disheveled hunter-style clothes, but he doesn't think anything of it.]
Hello Sam.
... Looks a little like post-purgatory Cas. Not nearly so haggard, but still.
He smiles anyway. Even if he worries. Even angels aren't exempt, it seems.]
Hey, Cas.
You, too, huh?
[Sam's state isn't too bad off. He's got a hell hound stained shirt on, and somehow his hair is as long as ever, tucked and a little messy from his arrival. And maybe he's just a bit fidgety over here. That happens, when you just felt some unnatural, pure thing surging through your arm.]

Wow, you know more than most new people do! You did some network-reading, huh.

It's thanks to everyone here that I was even able to piece anything together, though. Not that what I see is exactly promising, but... it's good to know where I stand.

This Sam is not the same half-dead rambling fool that had injected him over the course of eight hours -- no, he looks healthier. But not healthy enough for him to be completely out of the woods -- but not desperate enough to be from the same point and time as Crowley is.
He feels a small burst of frustration, because he wants to tear Sam's throat out, and Crowley feels plenty justified in doing so, but first thing is first.
Figuring out how much Sam remembers.
Crowley finally turns on the video feed, feeling no shame or necessity to hide the differences. He looks tired and worn around the edges, but his eyes still hold that glint of stubborn jackassery that he has only just learned how to regain.
The demon surveys him with narrowed eyes, surprisingly silent (uncomfortable, really) before something occurs to him.
Sam clenching his hand, but not quite looking dead --
Lightbulb.]
You've just killed my dog, you gargantuan buffoon.
Re: [Video]
Great. Just what he wanted to see. The mention of the hellhound makes him a little shit, to be sure; yeah, Crowley, I totally did that. Bet it feels just hurtful, doesn't it? And whatever man, he's heard all your stupid insults, he expects it x 100.]
It was a pretty awful pet. Getting it put down was a long time coming.
... And I gotta say, it was pretty therapeutic.
[dryly, so dryly said
so fuck you
... squint]
Didn't know it meant to much to you, to make you look like that.

Wait — you're serious? Is dying and coming back a pretty regular occurance?

What the hell death parties do the Animus host here.]

He just stares for a second, totally unsure how to even carry on.]
... Depends... What are you still — fuzzy on? We can compare notes.
[Or I can see if this demon-killing knife in my waistband will kill you. But maybe immediately leaping to kill something with a demon-y face isn't the best idea around here. Come on, Sam, try to be open-minded. Sort... of...]

I have to say, Sam, you seem a lot more amicable about being stuck in this situation than most people are when they first arrive!
[ Just like that, she moves onto his inquiries. ]
As for the Animus, I believe some people have collected information on them. Castiel was one, if I'm not mistaken. Vriska might be another person to talk to.
[ video ]
Immediately he starts trying to figure out what she is based on the colors and style, leafing through a memory full of way too much, lately.]
Ah. Thanks. Castiel's a good friend of mine; I can get the rundown.
...
Sorry if I'm sort of jumping to conclusions here, but are you by any chance — a fairy?
[He distinctly remembers, soulless at the time, Dean being attacked by a tinkerbell 'with nipples'. Please don't be naked.]

[Pitch is half in shadows, and if Sam's good with his old cambodian architecture he might recognize a bit of Ta Prohm behind him.]
The Animus aren't ghosts, they're spirits and as far as history's concerned you'll have to be a little more specific. I've been around since your species dropped from the trees.
But who cares about cool architecture when people are calling you snacks.]
Is that how you great all people, or am I just lucky for some reason?
[so done with this place, so done
You're not Death — at least, Sam doesn't think so. Then again, Death could be entirely different elsewhere, if the universes are so different. Who knows? All he knows is you're a creepy looking bastard.
But spooky or not, he's not about to let it freak him out too much.]
Could always start from the beginning. Theirs, more specifically. I think I've got the species one down pretty well.

Hey there, Sammy. Aren't you a sound for sore ears?
[It's a weird relationship, this one. He sort of wishes you'd get ganked, but then kind of accepts that you're not. It makes no sense at all, after all the shit you pull. Even so — his reaction is way less hostile than towards Crowley. In fact, part of him is glad it's her and not. Y'know. Another demon.
But the thought of when he last saw her makes him exhausted, suddenly.]
What, you too? ... Guess it's been a while.
[Not that pleasantly said, but at least it's neutral.
Lest we forget the olden days, where we helped to get you thrown out of windows or exorcised to Hell.]
