This was her favorite position, Gabrielle thought, settling down beside Xena with a blissful sigh. She had been so many places before that she had never thought possible while she had lived stuck in her village. Then Xena had come, and suddenly, everything Gabby had given up had seemed possible and most were quickly made reality. She had escaped her village. She had escaped her betrothal. She had escaped the mundaneness of life in her village.

She had escaped to adventure and love, and since then, she had been so many places. She had been on stages more times than she could count, sharing her adventures with Xena and the pride she felt for her beloved with the world. She had been, quite literally, to Tartarus and back. She had been in a Giant's pocket and spoken and even laughed with Gods. She had been to places she never would have dared venture before and to highs and lows she'd never before even imagined.

But of them all, her favorite place was right here, not in this exact, necessary spot on the grassy, woodland floor but beside the amazing woman she held. And her most hated place? Anywhere without Xena.
