pointless stats - updated!

back in 2022, i got frustrated about how ao3 splits out fandoms on the list of what fandoms i've posted in before, and did my own slightly messy version of the fandoms list from my ao3 dashboard. i thought about just updating that post but decided it was more fun stats-wise to make a new one and have both. so! updated february 2026 version of my fandoms list on ao3. if the only works in a fandom are multivoices i did brief parts in, i just left them out because voiceteam has really exploded my number of fandoms lol.

Hi! I'm Anna, she/they. Annapods on ao3, discord, bsky, tumblr.
Thanks for checking out my letter for this exchange!

Last edits 18/02/2026 - clean up, ready for signups!

Opt-insAs long as you keep my DNWs in mind and respect the rules of the exchange, please don't worry too much about how you interpret fandoms, relationship/character tags and formats. I wouldn't even blink if you did any of the following:

- Mix several versions of canon and include spoilers.
- Use only the version I requested, or a subset of it, without having consumed any other version.
- Mix several requested tags, including combining them into threesome and moresome ships.
- Focus more on some characters or relationships than others in big group tags. For example, smut that only involves some members of a polycule, or ensemble stories with no POV switch.
- Create a pre-relationship story for a romantic/sexual tag ("/"), or make the relationship badly defined or non-traditional. I don't need them to kiss/have sex/define the relationship/etc for it to count as shippy in my eyes, and that goes double for comics.
- Add pre-relationship untertones to a platonic tag ("&"), or make that relation romantically queerplatonic while keeping it sexually platonic.
- Add unrequested relationships, including in character-centric works, as long as they're still character-centric.
- Add worldbuilding, plot, etc that are not directly relevant to the relationship.
- Add original characters, including as major or main characters.
- Start in medias res, leave the work finished but the ending somewhat open, vibes are good vibes are great.
- Use the tags, summary, etc of the work to establish context.
- Get experimental with the format!
- Create a recursive work, inspired by or based on one of my own works or someone else's. I do have a few conditions for this one, please see the "recursive works" section.

[SAFETY] 365 Fresh - Triple H (Music Video)
Tags1: Kim Hyojong | E'Dawn (365 Fresh)
1: Kim Hyuna (365 Fresh)
1: Lee Hwitaek | Hui (365 Fresh)
Kim Hyojong | E'Dawn & Kim Hyuna & Lee Hwitaek | Hui (365 Fresh)
Kim Hyojong | E'Dawn/Kim Hyuna/Lee Hwitaek | Hui (365 Fresh)
NotesThis is a 5 minutes music video in which three strangers, each fleeing from their own problems, find themselves with a stolen car full of cash and go on a road trip/bender.
Hui is in trouble with a gang, Hyuna kills a guy that was trying to rape her, Dawn has mental health and potentially substance abuse issues and is trying to kill himself. There's drinking, smoking, and implied sex (Hyuna and Dawn, but at one point they all wake up in the same bed, great OT3 vibes!) The police catches up to them and they jump off the expressway together.
In real life, Triple H was a somewhat short lived project group featuring Hyuna, her secret boyfriend Dawn and his group leader and friend Hui. Lots of stuff happened since then. If you know (or want to learn) about it, feel free to take inspiration from it, but it's not required.
Also, I have no opinion on stage names VS real names.
PromptsCan we imagine a happy ending for these three, in the MV universe? How? What does it look like?
Alternate universes where these three outcasts still find each other! Do they meet while planning a heist? Are they all service industry workers who hate their jobs? Is Hui a mafia boss, Dawn the son of a politician, Hyuna a serial killer? Etc etc etc.
A few snippets that can each spawn whole stories: the look Hyuna and Hui exchange when they decide to bring in Dawn, the three of them waking up in bed, the credits shot where they are leaning back but not actually falling.
Dwn and Hyuna are fucking, but are they talking about it? Similarly, how does Hui feel about it, and how do they (or do they not) end up all three together?
The MV makes it look like everything goes so fast, but what about the slow, quiet moments of the day/night? Do they ever contemplate on where they are, do they ever start to process?

Crewmate & Impostor (Among Us)
Crewmate/Impostor (Among Us)
Impostor/Impostor (Among Us)
NotesYou can download and play the game on PC or mobile, or you can watch a few walkthroughs on Youtube. Don't worry about the special roles, the core of it is "werewolves game but in space": one or more imposters are hiding among a spacecrew. While the crewmates are busy fixing their ship/etc, the imposters are sneaking around, sabotaging stuff and killing crewmates. The crewmates can vote to eject people they suspect of being an imposter into space. The crewmates win if they get rid of all the imposters or fix everything there is to fix, the imposters win if they manage to kill enough crewmates or induce a critical failure. Players who get killed turn into ghosts, with limited possible interactions.
For a better explanation of the rules, as well as descriptions of the additional roles/powers crewmates can have, or each map's functionalities, see the wikipedia article or the fandom wikia!
I'm fine with character deaths, though please note the DNW sad, hopeless, or ominous endings.
PromptsHuman VS alien POVs and how weird they each look or act or think to each other, linguistics and cultural differences and inter-species negotiations, teratophilia, community building, nerding out over space ships or terraforming or whatever, sentient ships or stations, ...
I'm fine with the graphic style of the game, and I'm also fine with taking it in whatever other direction you'd like, up to and including getting rid of the color-coded suits for a more realistic look. Same for the setting and the backstory, it doesn't need to stick closely to the premise of the game! As long as at one point there is or was a crew of some kind and an alien hidden among them, it fits.
Ghosts?? Who can talk to each other but not the living? What if they could take to the imposters, would they functionally be mediums?

Cho Haseul/Choi Yerim | Choerry/Jeon Heejin/Jeong Jinsol | Jinsoul/Kim Jungeun | Kim Lip (icarus)
NotesA high concept 15 minutes long video with a lot going on! Missing girls trapped in a digital reality, angels being hunted, broken promises, making deals with witches, underground clubs, ... The girls blend together and everything is a metaphor, so it's more inspiration fodder than a well-defined story and universe.
If you'd like more material, or if it's all too vague, I'd recommend watching the Virtual Angel and Birth MVs and some random analysis videos, but this is optional.
Content warnings for bird hunting, missing persons case, death by fall. Very slight horror vibes at times, way more present in Birth.
The girls switch place pretty often, with the exception of Jinsoul, who is Joan of Arc with the Excalibur gun/sword/crossbow. From what I understand, Choerry is the one who sees the girl fall at the start, and the one who stares at the TV intensely before closing one eye. Kim Lip replaces her when she opens it again(?), and is the one in the car (long then short hair) who goes to the club. Haseul is the one inside the TV and also one of the angels shot down by the hunters. Heejin is in front of the TV at some point, and is the angel with white hair and black eyes at the end. They all appear in the dance sequence.
I'm not attached to any specific interpretation and don't mind you just using the video for inspiration fodder either. No particular opinion on stage names VS birth names. Open to any or no romantic ships, though as always a fondness for group polyamory.
PromptsIn combination with the Virtual Angel MV, magical girls! Several figures can be the villain, like the witch/raven with a human face, the mother/shining figure, the bird shooters, Jinsoul as seeking a misguided revenge, or the angel at the end as a corrupted angel. ARTMS themselves can be the previous generation of magical girls that failed and disappeared or got corrupted, or on the countrary have ascended and now be guiding the new generation.
If taking all of it figuratively, the broken promise of wings at 20 is about adults telling children that things will get better/suddenly make sense/etc when they themselves become adults, and the bitterness of that not being true. Angels are loosing their homes, being shot down, ... The Birth MV/song also fits that vibe very well. So, a group of angry teenagers/young adults down on their luck trying to find their place?
Five girls missing, trapped in the TV... casefic with a side of supernatural/horror? Persona 4 AU?

Vulnerable Leader/Protective Team Member (OW): applies to sports, music groups, corporate life, adventuring parties, ...
Sick Fanfic Author/Her Female Rival Who Mails Her Half a Blister Pack of Medicine (F/F): the spite! the reluctant gestures of care! Bitter rivals to frienemmies to long distance lovers? Faye/Liu Prima Patpimol (Beauty Newbie)
Liu Prima Patpimol/Saint/Guy Karin Sayapisit (Beauty Newbie)
NotesThis is a somewhat typical uni love triangle with a side of intrigue, but the characters are earnest and well-intentioned in a way that I found very endearing, including in how the conflicts were handled. It's not, like, drama of the year, but there are lots of elements to latch onto!
Liu, the main character, got bullied a lot for her physical appearance. Between high school and university, she gets plastic surgery and now fits beauty standards to a T. Faye is the popular queen bee of the university. She's sweet, she's pretty, she's basically perfect, except actually, she's not. Liu gets a girlcrush on her (platonic in the show but come on). Guy is the popular, awkward, earnest love interest who went to the same high school as Liu. Saint is the new neighbor who teases Liu (and Guy) and falls in love with her.
Quick content warnings for someone being blackmailed into a fake relationship, cyberbullying, stalking (including a chase at night).
All the episodes are available with subtitles on Youtube (link), but you'll probably have to use a VPN.
PromptsFull disclosure, I watched about half of the show for a podtogether project and am no longer completely sure what was in the show and what was for that WIP, so like, if you want to go for it, I'll appreciate you sticking close to canon just as much as going full AU. I especially appreciate AUs that are just left of canon!
The best solution to a love triangle? Polyamory. I'm not just saying this in general, I love these characters' dynamics and I think they could play off each other really well. The care, the teasing, ...
Spoilers ahead!! Skip this paragraph if you'd like to watch the show without spoilers! But Faye is a great candidate for toxic yuri. Liu not so much, but hey, either it's funny/fluffy how oblivious and earnest she is, or she's being dragged down by her insecurities. Faye is also a good candidate for some rehabilitation post canon! I feel like the show did a good job of building it up and bringing her around at the end, and I know this is Liu's story, not Faye's, but I think there's a story to tell from her point of view in the aftermath.
I loved all the friendships in the show, but especially Ann and Guy. Shenanigans or earnest conversations or anything else, basically, would make me melt.
What could make Faye and Guy get along? Honest question, would it take a common goal, Liu's disappointed/sad eyes, a heart-to-heart...?

Original Park Moondae/Park Moondae | Ryu Gunwoo (Debut or Die)
NotesDebut or Die is a webcomic/webnovel in which a random guy has to become an idol because of a transmigration system. It's rooted in Korean fan culture (lots of social media elements, recurring fan characters, ...), the characters are endearing, and I was surprised how many jokes/one-off mentions grabbed my attention as potential fanwork fodder.
Here are an unofficial site for the webcomic, the official webcomic and the official webnovel. Annoyingly, tapas requires an account and only gives you one free webcomic chapter per day and one free webnovel chapter every 3 hours. I haven't managed to find any other translation of the novel online, let me know if you do?
I've only read the webcomic (and fic and a few wikia articles), but please don't worry about spoilers! I can rely on context clues.
I couldn't nominate and request every single / and & permutation of TeSTAR, but I'm okay with all of them as background or focus. For the big group tags, most of the characters can be hinted at/referenced/foreshadowed, I'm not asking you to actually include each member to an equal degree!
PromptsI have a weakness for pack/coven/etc AUs. I think it's the group dynamics and platonic commitment, often served with a good dose of physical affection and/or hurt/comfort. I love it completely platonic, completely polyamorous, and everything in between. Pre-debut, after, or completely AU, all are good!
Adding a layer of a/b/o or similar on top of the canonical issues is like adding frosting on a cake.
Transmigration whump is fun, and I think Ryu Gunwoo was a little too cavalier about it. Yes, he's mature and self-reliant and whatever, but he deserves to be shaken like a can of soda and explode from the pressure.
Cute group antics!! Getting to know each other better while dealing with the lack of privacy at the start? Coming up with hairbrained schemes and shenanigans later on when they're comfortable? Company-mandated """fun"""? Yes!
The idea of several versions of the same world based on divergences is very crunchy. What would have happened if...? Idol/photographer, Moondae as a manager, someone else jumps back in time, Gunwoo and the original Moondae having to share a body, the members meeting younger, ...
I love how much of the fanbase we get to see in canon, be it social media posts, actual fan characters, or Moondae's imagination. The fan village was especially cute and I wouldn't mind 10 pages of it! I will of course gobble up any and all social media AUs, outsider's POV, multimedia elements, in-universe RPF, ...
I love everything that explores K-pop as an industry. Bleak boys band bingo, but also processes, structures, norms... This is often found in AUs where one of them is not an idol, or they are in the industry but not as idols. Of those, I have a specific fondness for Manager AUs, because, well, caretaking. It also extends to fake in-universe content: interviews, merch and album packaging, stage outfits and concepts, ... For example, a fake MV or one of Moondae's power points!

NotesI'm completely fine with anything from 100% fanon to that one very specific comics run from fifty years ago that was retconned three times since.
PromptsI love angst and found family, of course I'm into DCU.
Please feel free to be mean to them! I DNWed on-screen mind break, rape and graphic torture, but whump, recovery, and references to past events are all fine.
Also, do not be afraid of rehashing popular storylines or beats. If I haven't gotten bored of Titans Tower AUs yet, it's never going to happen.
Sentient places are great and I think Gotham could get some screentime, as a treat. Gargoyles, city scapes and maps, gentle eldritch horror, ...
This also extends to background studies. Alfred the cat taking a stroll around Gotham for the worldbuilding tag?
I love random OCs and their potential acts of kindness. Crime Alley community building, comical but well-meaning goons, social media memes, ...
Ivy and Harley! Power couple badasses, domesticity, ... Ivy plotting to take out the Joker? Harley casually psychoanalyzing capes and villains alike? Plant sprite Ivy who lives in Harley's clinic's flower pots?

PromptsWhat would have changed if Porsche and/or Chay were taken with their mom? Or if someone (Kim? Kinn? Vegas? Peter? Tankhun?) found Nampueng before canon?
It cracks me up that Kim is an influencer/wannabe idol/whatever he is, and I love seeing that aspect of canon pushed further. Maybe Chay is a famous musician in his own rights, while Kim is still half-musician half-mafia. Maybe it's a case fic from the POV of Chay's fandom friends trying to understand what happened and coming to comically wrong? eerily accurate? half-half? conclusions, which ends with KimChay reconciliation. Maybe there's no mafia and it's a showbiz AU.
Kim deserves one more big brother and I think Porsche would be perfect for the job. Scruff that boy like a kitten and make him talk about his feelings. Or maybe literally turn him into a kitten. Shifter AU! Accidental curse from Porsche, who feels responsible and has to take care of cat!Kim!
Speaking of brothers, do you imagine the Theerapanyakun as completely out of touch with each other (bittersweet, alienating, hurtful), secretly aligned against their ennemies (oooh hidden communication, strategizing, plot twist!) or somewhere in between?
Food industry AU: are the Theerapanyakun the owners of a high-end resort? Do they just have a lot of restaurants in their money laundering portfolio? Did the Kittisawat brothers inherit a family restaurant that they're struggling to keep afloat?
Canon divergence in which Porsche works for the catering/event planning company the Theerapanyakun use for their above-board events. Could be a bartender like in canon, a security officer for some extra action, or maybe customer liaison for the established connection and the antagonistic start.
Tae as the "trophy wife" of Kinn! Is he actually an equal partner in the family? Are they not actually together (or not yet) but have agreed to pretend for some reason? And what happens when Porsche comes in?
Pete the newly-promoted or transfered detective trying to investigate, who gets in trouble with either the minor or the major family. For a longer plot, they could pressure him into focusing his investigation on the other branch of the family while leaving them out of the splash zone, and things get messy with torn loyalties and falling in love, oh my! I'd prefer the police itself to not be painted in a good light, though mixed is fine. Another flavor of this would be tax audits, although corporate taxes in Thailand is probably a very deep research rabbit hole and I'm sorry if you feel curious now.

PromptsI like the warring clans period for canon divergence, time travel, and sociocultural worldbuilding. This is the one fandom that made me think that actually, no, I couldn't simply DNW weddings and proposals, because what about political/forced/arranged marriages? Also, pseudo-historical settings and clothing and architecture are great. You could just draw me a guided tour of one of the clan compounds or early Konoha and I'd love it.
Early team 7 divergences and fix-its will be cherished! I'm including academy days and pre-academy in there. I can take or leave their canonical quirks tbh, so only worry about OOC if you, personnally, care about it. Sakura's solo tag is basically an invitation to give her some development.
Shisui and Kakashi are both here for the worldbuilding and canon fixing potentials. They are so OP and so tragic and it didn't have to be this way! Wanna dive into the whump? Ignore it like it never happened everything is fine just cute shenanigans? Action shots of obliterating Danzo??

NotesYou can read the webcomic here for free with an account, and here is a fantranslation of the novel.
Portals to dungeons full of monsters start to appear in our world, and some people awaken abilities that allow them to fight those monsters, setting up guilds to raid dungeons and a whole economy around dungeon and monster materials. Han Yoojin's brother, Yoohyun, who he basically raised, awakens as a powerful S-rank and seemingly leaves him behind to a miserable life as an F-rank hunter. Except that when something goes wrong in a dungeon, Yoohyun sacrifices himself to save Yoojin! Granted a wish by defeating the dungeon, Yoojin decides to go back to the past, reconcile with Yoohyun, and live a quieter life. Then he realises that he now has the ability to help others reach better skills and ranks, starts collecting S-rank hunters and raising baby monsters while still F-rank himself, and gets embroiled in a plan to save the universe.
What I like about it: humor, found family, wish-fulfillment fantasy, whump potential.
PromptsThe potential for angst in this fandom! Slow-drip sacrifices from each brother in turn, guilt, us against the world, rejection, loneliness, chronic pain and various body issues, shit self esteem, ... I'm always a sucker for exploring the trauma of it all. How does it warp a character's perception of themselves, and their interpretation of the world? How do they cope? How does it impact their relationships, new and old?
Chosen family!! Found, yes, but very much chosen too. Coming to trust and rely on each other, developing (or redeveloping) habits and shared references, little shows of affection, ... Great in canon, also great in AUs that take one step to the left. What would it look like if... Yoojin's parents had owned a business, they were actors or idols instead of hunters, gates and monsters were replaced by folklore creatures (Yoon Yoon??), ...
Peace!! I've read about half the webcomic, and everytime he's on the page I zoom in on his widdle face. I love him so much. Shenanigans, slice of life, simply 10 pages of random portraits of Him, just. Yes.
Younger awakened Han Yoohyun trying to sneakily protect his big brother in his weird stalker/controlling way except he's smol so it's both funny and adorable. Can sneak in depressing stuff in the background about Yoojin struggling to take care of him, or have it be from Yoojin's POV directly, angsty or fluffy are both great! Also, child Yoohyun the eldritch? entity?? idek, both of them were weird and I think we can make them even weirder.
Song Taewon getting bullied by Sung Hyunjae... more and/or he deserves to go ape shit and/or he needs Han Yoojin to defend him? To be clear I mean that in any sense including sexually.
Outsiders or social media POV on the strange mating rituals of Han Yoojin and Sung Hyunjae.

Media and format likes
Non-traditional formats: I opt in to script format, image-only, in-universe media including social media, epistolary, poetry, abstract styles, just plain interesting formatting, and whatever else you can think of. As long as it's allowed by the exchange, go for it! Special mention to interactive or useable content, anything that is printable or playable or foldable or usable in whatever way will be an immediate hit.

Things that were a personal challenge for you: trying out a new medium or a new way to do things, mixing techniques, taking a gamble, ... Please don't worry about making it the greatest gift ever, I will appreciate the attempt regardless.

Ideas(tm): I love works with strong, coherent styles or inspirations. This could mean a lot of different things, and does not presume any skill level or difficulty! Once again, as long as it meets the minimum requirements for the exchange, you're good.
A few examples: copying a genre or style. A parody of noir novels, a pinup calendar, xkcd comics, an AITA post, a fake Chuck Tingle short story, impressionism, gothic horror, a children's illustrated storybook, ...
More abstract styles, poetry, concepts, ...
A retelling of a known story: fairy tales and folklore, established tropes like supernatural romance or Japanese high school clubs, established settings like RPG-inspired fantasy or superheroes, ...

Creator commentary: I'll love all of these even more if you included some information on what/why/how you made a work. Since I don't think there's a way to incorporate it in the gift itself while following the rules, this is extra extra extra optional.

Recursive works: I'll be delighted by any recursive works based on my own! My blanket permission statement basically boils down to go wild as long as you make sure any other creators involved are okay with it.
I'm also open to receiving gifts based on other people's stuff, on two conditions. First, if you create something based on a fic I podficced, and not the podfic itself, then please do not use the inspired-by function to link your work to my podfic. The difference can be hard to measure, but in general you can ask yourself: are you inspired by the parts I had control over, like the acting choices, editing, freetalk, cover art style, etc? Or are you inspired by the story itself?
Second, please make sure your gift can stand on its own, without me having to check out the work that inspired it. This can be done through an author's note summarizing the context, or even just the tags or summary if they're informational enough.

2026 Books, Post 2

Reading fairly speedily! Definitely fell off a little on having quite so many that are relevant to my interests as the first post, but I'm also doing really well at taking control of my TBR shelves after I got very overwhelmed by them.

If the Boot Fits by Rebekah Weatherspoon

I like Weatherspoon, I always forget that and then I read one of hers! This was a fun little Hollywood Cinderella retelling, nothing very deep, but an enjoyable winter read if you're into that kind of thing. Though really the Cinderella of it all is done within the first couple chapters and then it's just a man being very besotted and the woman being unsure if it's a good idea. Weatherspoon has such an interesting tendency to have minor characters that feel like she's setting up other romances or checking in on past romances that then don't exist--the love interest's brothers have books about them, but there are at least two other couples in the book where I was baffled to find that she hadn't written books about them nor did she seem to intend to.

Seraphina by Rachel Hartman

A reread, though from long ago! Someone from work very kindly gifted me a copy, so I reread it, of course, and I really do enjoy it a lot! There's a lot of fun worldbuilding, I love it when stories have music in them intimately, and everything is allowed to be a lot messier than I feel like YA can sometimes trend to (which sounds wrong, YA is very messy as a genre, I just can't phrase it better than that right now). Anyway, this has made me want to read more Hartman, especially since I hear good things about Tess of the Road, so I'll look out for more from her!

The Djinn Waits A Hundred Years by Shubnum Khan

I think I read this after reading someone's review of it here on DW? Anyway, I can be hit or miss on books that swap back and forth between timelines (which is annoying because it's So Fucking Common), but I did like this! I think it carried it off with more grace than they sometimes can. Overall, this book wasn't centered on my loves and interests, but it was interesting, and I like reading books set in warm places during the cold of the winter. This sounds lukewarm, maybe because I read it on a day I was really sleep deprived, but I did like it a lot!

Gifts by Ursula K. LeGuin

Continuing my periodic goal to read more LeGuin! This one's a quiet story, as LeGuin is so good at, a coming of age with LeGuin's usual really solid worldbuilding. This is one where I don't have much to say, it's just a solid read! You've got to go into it remembering LeGuin doesn't care to do things at the Genre Standard (which seems obvious to say but somehow I find it strange every time even if I like it) about pacing and density of plot, but it's worth it.

Isn't It Bromantic? by Lyssa Kay Adams

Contemporary romance. It was ... fine? I appreciate when writers take a stab at a contemporary marriage of convenience, but that was really most of what it had going for it. To be fair, it might have been unfairly contrasted with the watch I'd done of Heated Rivalry just a few days before? But really it just felt like it was trying to do Jennifer Crusie, with the zany ensemble and idiosyncratic bits (and maybe Crusie in her co-writer era due to the random action plot it spawned at the end), and just got nowhere close to her charm.

At the Feet of the Sun by Victoria Goddard

I have to be in the right mood for Goddard (mostly a mood where I am willing to deal with the author having Two Special Boys Who She Loves Very Much And Everyone Loves Them And Says How Cool They Are), but I was in the right mood and I was having a stressful week and needed some self-care, so I went cozy. It was the right choice! Goddard's books, at least in this particular sub-series, are very long and incredibly indulgent, but they rarely feel long while I'm reading them. Sometimes I end up rolling my eyes when once again it gets hammered home how little self-esteem Cliopher has vs. how much other people esteem him, less because it's not realistic (I know many people this is true of) and more because even when I'm in the mood for The Author's Special Boys there are limits, but overall, it was the right book at the right moment for me. (One note from me on this series: the variable timelines and time stuff drive me NUTS. It's a useful tool for an author but it keeps disorienting me rather than bringing me deeper into the world.)

Swept Away by Beth O'Leary

I like O'Leary a lot! And I like this book a lot, I always forget that I love Survival Stories until I'm in the middle of having a heap of fun watching people problem-solve in emergency situations. Some of the family drama stuff in this one worked less well for me, but the overall concept and relationship development? A joy to me. Also, I want an AU on this vague concept in literally every fandom I"m in, thanks.

Princess Ben by Catherine Gilbert Murdock

I wish I could remember where I'd run across this rec. I picked it up because my library ebook service had it and I'd seen it on a list at some point. It's a YA fantasy, must have been published when Gail Carson Levine was trendy just judging from the marketing of it. It had its good points! Some interesting worldbuilding, and it really was a coming-of-age story. I kept being torn, because on one hand the heroine was fat and that's wonderful and novel, but on the other hand there was so much focus on it, and she did get starved somewhat at some point so she was Still Sturdy But Less Fat, and just overall how that whole thread was handled was uneven for me. Like, product of its time, but still. The worst aspect of this was the romance! No build-up, shortcuts with dream stuff, hard to believe for me. Like, I knew as soon as he was mentioned that he'd be the love interest, but it was done with no grace whatsoever. The whole romance could have been cut from the book and it would have been stronger for it.

Boy, With Accidental Dinosaur by Ian McDonald

This is someone's book for SURE, but it's not my book. I took it for a spin because there's a dinosaur-riding cowboy in my D&D game, so the dinosaur rodeo of it all here was a fun concept, but this was only like 30% dinosaur, and then 70% backstories for rodeo characters and explaining this dystopian late-20th-century world. If I'd known going in that the dinosaurs were a time travel thing (with Strict Rules) rather than an alternate history thing or a bioengineering thing, I might not have tried it, for some reason that made the whole thing way less fun for me. But it no doubt makes it more fun for someone!

Mistakes We Never Made by Hannah Brown

I skimmed this one hard and frankly only finished it because I knew I was almost done with a book post and wanted to get one out. The concept was interesting to me (two people who have almost been something many times over the years end up on a road trip together hunting down their friend who might be becoming a runaway bride), but I found both the characters incredibly unlikeable, especially our narrator. I don't think I'll be reading any more from this author.

That's all for this time! Next time, maybe I finally get to the most recent Alix Harrow?

Open Q - organisational systems

hwarium: (Default)
[personal profile] hwarium

Question to moots and flyby visitors alike: how do you organise your life?! What do you use to track the myriad of sisyphean tasks that composite the human existence: chores, life admin, hobbies, social commitments and big events, side projects, reading lists, expense tracking and budgeting, journalling, article archiving, correspondance..... .... ..or perhaps do you just let go and speedrun raw.

I'm thinking about resetting some systems because items have been slipping off my mind into the ether. I'm currently looking at some kind of app for reoccurring tasks (ticktick / things 3 / microsoft to-do) and consolidating calendars, but would love to know what has worked, or not worked, for this corner of the internet.

Current profile:
  • digital systems: android phone + pc + OS + iOS
  • journalling, planning, expense tracking, general list-making: pen and paper (jibun techo + leuchtturm)
  • budgeting: excel
  • thoughts dump, flash to-dos, gym notes: google keep
  • holiday planning: google maps and google sheets
  • hobby tracking: todoist but ineffective
