There is someone familiar staring at Xie Yun, his posture absolutely perfect. As to why said man is familiar, surely Xie Yun's eyes will reveal that not-so-secret secret to him! Lan Wangji isn't certain what to make of what he sees. A face...and a body...like his. A mirror. But no, there are obvious differences.
The dark hair is the same, the body... Those eyes are different. Where his are a bit darker the man before him has golden eyes. Of course, Xie Yun merely gives him a smile, a bright one. Something that never truly graces Lan Wangji's lips. If anything, he smiles far more than this other counterpart of his.
"What's there to really explain?"
Hands moving behind his back he walks around Lan Wangji, no evidence of where his steps have touched the ground.
"I've never seen someone with such likeness before, not even back on Peng Lai."
His shifu would have said something had there been another like him.
Lan Wangji's lips press together, revealing his irritation. What is there to explain? Isn't it obvious? But this...counterpart?...twin?...of his doesn't seem to have any answers either. So not a trick.
"I am from the Cloud Recesses."
Just so they are on the same page.
"Name?"
Clearly his abrupt way of speaking is normal for him. Lan Wangji has never been the sort who uses his words frivolously.
Yet, he did not say he was from Peng Lai. Most, after all, know that as the mythical island with the immortal Taoists that live there. His shifu was one of them. It was a beautiful paradise is what it was. One that he liked, but he had no intention of staying put in. No matter what the predicament he managed to get in.
"Cloud Recesses. I haven't heard of that one."
Maybe he'd ask General Tang or General Wen if they had heard of it. Or perhaps it had been back before his dying dynasty, or maybe some time after. It sounded like an interesting place.
He has never heard of Peng Lai, either, though that makes sense, doesn't it? If they had crossed paths before, Lan Wangji would have remembered him.
"We are strangers." and yet not very strange, "This one is Lan Wangji."
Also known as Lan Zhan and Hanguang-jun. The first name is special and is reserved for those who have known him since he was young and the second is a title given to him. His courtesy name is all that matters where strangers are concerned.
Hasn't everyone heard of Peng Lai? The mythical island surrounded by the sea where three Taoist Immortals live. Though, it wouldn't surprise him if those outside the martial arts world had never heard of it. Or outside of many things, really.
"Lan Wangji. A good strong name. How far away from home are you, Lan Wangji of Cloud Recesses?"
Was the other there to see General Tang? Or General Wen Yu? Or perhaps even his adopted brother, Third Prince Chen Zichen. Most of the people in his own world were known for their martial arts cultivation, after all. There was definitely something different about the man before him.
He isn't outside of martial arts, but he also hasn't concerned himself with immortals. If that path is meant for him, he will see to it the natural way - without the aid of any other (and with Wei Ying at his side). Also it is entirely possible that Lan Wangji doesn't equate a mythical paradise with reality.
"I'm not sure." he glances around, "Far if we are close to your home."
Too far, in fact. He might need to acquire some talisman or a horse.
It was probably a good thing that they were not in Peng Lai then. Besides, that place was one where his shifu lived and raised him. Where the Taoists had taken in a young boy, a young Emperor, with no home.
"We are not close to my home. We're in Huojiapu."
He doesn't know if Lan Wangji knows where that is or not, but he would help him get back to Cloud Recesses if that's where he wanted to be. Would rather be. They would just need to be careful of Disha warriors along the way.
"I know just where you can get one."
Whether the Peddlar's Gang will allow Lan Wangji to pay for the mount when he's with royalty is another story.
"Lan Zhan! Lan Zhan?" Wei Ying runs up to Xie Yun, grinning breathlessly, "Did you change your hair? Why aren't you wearing white? Or...blue? You look like me!"
And for some reason that is exciting. Has Lan Zhan come over to the dark sideWuxian side?
He does not know a Lan Zhan. Though, he does turn slightly and gives Wei Wuxian a bright smile. That? Is not the restraint, nor smile, of a Lan. Much less by one that looks just like him. Though, he does take in what the other man is wearing and gives a bit of a laugh.
Oh! Oh. Wei Ying stares in wonder at that smile, just a tad enchanted by it. What? Lan or not, that is one handsome face! Not that he will show his hand. He knows better than that~
"Friend, you must tell me your name." he throws an arm around Xie Yun's shoulders, "I'm Wei Wuxian."
Unlike the Lan that he looks like he is also a tactile person, much like the man beside him. Which is to say that Wei Wuxian may, or may not, end up with an around around his shoulders as well.
Also, was Wei Wuxian not showing his hand already? "Xie Yun." More a name that he chose for himself than his actual name, but a name none the less.
One would not be able to come up with any bothersome connections with the name he chose himself. Then again, they wouldn't be able to with his given name either. No one besides him, his adopted family, and the Taoists needed to know he was a Xiao anyway. The rest of the martial arts world thought them dead.
Though, he can't help but laugh when the other decides to be familiar with him off the bat. His adopted brother, Chen Zichen, as well as General Tang and General Wen would be beside themselves if they knew.
"How are you so sure of that, A-Xian?" Two can play the familiar with one another game, because they could.
"There's something about your face. I trust it." he chooses each word slowly, carefully, toying with the meaning of each, "A-Yun is very handsome. He reminds me of my friend Lan Zhan."
And no one is more trustworthy than that man. Also Wei Wuxian lives to horrify his elders. It's one of his favorite activities, actually. When they gape or yell, he knows he has done well.
"Now you're laying it on thick," He states with a bit of a laugh. "Though, I'm sure A-Fei would agree with you, as would a few others that were about." Though, he had no clue who in the world this Lan Zhan was. "So, I remind you of a close friend. Only in looks though, it seems."
He's clearly amused by the whole thing. Why wouldn't he be? The fact that Wei Wuxian thinks he reminds him of a friend of his is amusing too.
