Memes: Cancer and Fanart
Jan. 11th, 2010 08:56 pmGakked from a bunch of people, for no other reason than it is a big issue in my family.
In memory of family and friends who have lost the battle with cancer; and in support of the ones who continue to conquer it! Post this on your LJ if you know someone who has or had cancer. 93% won't copy and paste this. Will you?
For my maternal grandmother and grandfather, my paternal grandmother and grandfather, all of whom died from cancer.
For my mother, who had a double mastectomy, my aunt who had her uterus removed, for my LJ friend,s and everyone else currently fighting and winning against cancer.
----
And now for something completely different:

Date: 2010-01-12 02:24 pm (UTC)I assume it's the latter. The average lifespan being what it is, it seems like most people would know someone who has or had cancer.

Date: 2010-01-18 05:38 pm (UTC)It struck me the same way--irritation that it implied that somehow I owed anyone anything or that not posting something in my LJ would have any kind of impact at all. I thought about cutting it, but left it in anyway.

Date: 2010-01-18 07:29 pm (UTC)This one in particular confuses me; I doubt there's *anyone* who doesn't want to see cancer eliminated. So... what is it meant to do? Get people to prioritize their donation budget differently? Or just let people know they aren't alone? (You aren't, as I expect you already know.)
I think that confusion caused my latent confusion (and irritation) at the "93%" phrase to red-line. Sorry for taking it out on your comments.
