and the choir sings... [and now: a rare public post!]
Oh, I am so totally preaching to the choir today but: if you're a UK resident, please vote today. I am sure that I don't need to do my usual dance vis-a-vis the right to vote, both as someone who comes from a country where that right has not always been offered to everyone and as someone whose gender meant that voting wasn't always a right either. ETA: and if you really can't bring yourself to vote for any of the candidates, then spoil your ballot - imo, if you don't engage in the process, then you do yourself and everyone whose ability to vote is restricted (often by the power holders) a great disservice.
I'd say I don't care who you vote for, as long as you vote but we all know that would be a giant, honking lie [1]. But I will say - please bear in mind that the MEPs you vote for will be voting on legislation etc. until 2013[2], so while we are currently cranky with our MPs, giving them a EU vote related bloody nose is not exactly great for the long term.
I have fallen in between electoral rolls/boroughs, so I will be trekking off back to the polling station back in Peckham after work, as there was no way to do that particular journey this morning and still get to work on time.
1. Obviously, should you chose to vote for the BNP/UKIP/ assorted crazies, it is your choice but do me a favour and defriend me because frankly, I don't actually want to know you.
ETA - The Return of. 2. Which, assuming that we do have a general election this year, which frankly, is quite likely, that means that the MEPs chosen today will probably be representing us for longer than the MPs you vote for in the next GE.
ETA #3 (I will shut up soon): And then Boris FELL IN A RIVER. TODAY IS THE BEST DAY EVER. *watches, rewatches, rewatches, rewatches*

Sorry I never made it last night. Went home and fell fast asleep on the sofa.

Thank you SO much for the video link. It's going down awfully well with my colleagues too.
I'm going to see Mitch Benn tonight, so when he asks for suggestions from the audience for the subject of his insta-song, I know what I'm putting forward...

Ooh! I hope he takes that suggestion!
