Amazon Kindle Fire with 7 inch full color touchscreen

I've been debating an iPad for awhile now, but couldn't justify the expense, and it seemed a little big. This, though, might fit the bill very, very nicely. I don't need it for movies or TV shows (or music, for that matter) since I have limited bandwidth. I don't even need it for games, although I guess I'd get Angry Birds and a couple others. But to have mobile web-surfing and email access on a screen bigger than my iPhone? YES, PLEASE.

Anybody else tempted?

Preordered! I can cancel anytime between now and when it ships (Nov 15) if I change my mind, but I think there will be BIG demand and I wouldn't be surprised if a wait list develops -- it did for the original Kindle in 2007. I learned from that experience!

I, uh. May have pre-ordered already? Ahem. *g* Like you, it's exactly what I've been wanting, at a price that doesn't make me blanch -- but the ability to access the free media I get with my Amazon Prime account is also a *major* selling point, for me, since I can only access it on my desktop, at the moment.

Hee! I preordered one too. I'm already a Prime member too. Unfortunately, I have limited bandwidth (10 GB a month; used to be 5 GB but I beat them with spoons until they gave me more), so the free content via streaming isn't a huge draw for me, but still. As I said to Pet, right size at the right price, and it doesn't have to make me cocoa. ;)

Absolutely! And yeah, the price was the big deciding factor for me, too. I mean, I still shouldn't have indulged right now, but man! Too good. I'll be able to look up stuff from my couch, rather than going to my computer! \o/ (not even a laptop over here...)

I just can't justify buying a $500 iPad, and that's on the low end. But I can swing the $200 Kindle, and I have lots of content that will transfer over.

I'm very tempted. I've been researching tablet PC's for several weeks now and I haven't found what I'd like. This comes very close. It's missing several of the iPad perks, but I don't need or want those perks. I'd like a little more storage, but I can deal. I'm very excited.

It's hard to know how much storage I'd need. Not much, is my best guess. I don't plan to download much because I have limited bandwidth (10 GB per month), so for me, I would mostly plan to use it to web surf, check e-mail on the go, etc. I love my iPhone, but the screen is small for doing much more than checking the weather. :)
