RULES

RULES
[ 0. ] This is less a rule, and more a very important note to understand. You need not have played the game Psychonauts in order to understand Whispering Rock and all the opportunities that are to be found in the game. Yes, it is set within the world of Psychonauts but all the information that you would need to be able to fully participate will be found here in the rules, the FAQs, and the locations page. If anything still remains unclear, please feel free to ask us.
[ 1. ] The most important rule of any game, and that is the rule of respect. We will not tolerate discrimination of any kind here at Whispering Rock. We ask that everyone show one another common courtesy. If you have a problem with a player, please try to resolve it quietly and maturely. If the issue continues please contact the mods.
[ 2. ] In this same vein, recall that IC actions do not mean OOC actions. To clarify, there will be characters out there who are incredibly rude, insulting, and may themselves be prejudiced. This does not mean that the player themselves are, so please do not take their actions personally. Likewise, if you have an issue with a person OOCly, please do not use your character to attack them in anyway.
[ 3. ] ICness is important! Whispering Rock is an alternate universe (AU) game, which means that your character's history will be modified to fit its setting. This means that there will be some inevitable changes to their personality, but they should not be extreme ones. Your character should still largely be identifiable as the person they are in canon.
[ 4. ] Godmodding and infomodding are not allowed. If you are not familiar with those terms they mean the following: godmodding is treating your character as if they are all powerful. Your character has weaknesses, and never at any point are you allowed to control the character of another person unless you have their explicit permission. Likewise, infomodding is using information that you know OOCly to your character's advantage. Unless there is a reason that they would know certain things about other characters, events, or the world, you cannot play them as if they do.
[ 5. ] There is no age requirement for being able to play in Whispering Rock, but we do want everyone to understand that there may be some content not suitable for minors. Since we could have minors in the game, we ask that everyone please make note of graphic content of any kind in their logs or threads.
[ 6. ] There are certain character limits that you must be aware of. Currently Whispering Rock only allows a person to have a maximum of four characters at a time. You may only have one counselor and one junior counselor at once. You can only apply one character from any given fandom.
[ 7. ] The activity requirement for each month is any of the following:
   * a post to the network, * participation in a log in which you have contributed 5 comments to a single thread,
   * or thread in another character's journal in which you have contributed ten comments.

If you fail to meet requirements one time, you will be given a warning. If you fail to meet them twice in a row, then you will be dropped from the game.
[ 8. ] Plagiarism will not be allowed at Whispering Rock. If it is found out that any part of your application comes from somewhere other than your own work, you will be declined or booted from the game without any warnings.
[ 9. ] The mods reserve to take everything case by case. Obviously we can not address every potential issue in the rules or the FAQ since we have no way of predicting every issue that may come up. Therefore, in the end our decisions which will be as fair and reasonable at the situation designates, is the deciding factor.
