Who?: Grant Ward and Kara Palamas.
What?: Ward and Kara talk plans, the symbol over the network.
When?: Just after it's appearance.
Warnings?: None. Just one person trying to recover and another trying to salvage a major screw up.

[Ward really just ignores the network at this point. Trip's here. Coulson's been here (At least he knew that) and now there's this, Rumlow making a big stink, a major noise. If he were head of HYDRA he'd preach caution and throw the rest to the wind.

That being said, he can't worry about Fitz anymore, or Skye. His feet check outside his door before he opens it.

Kara first.

Kara needs him. Kara who he feels responsible for and cares for. Kara who knows the truth of things.]

...We have a problem. Coulson's dead and Rumlow killed him.

[She's been trying her best to keep to herself. To not interact. To not bring attention. It's hard. She wants to get into the middle of things and find out more about people. There's something inside her still that wants to fix things, or help... somehow.]

[Then there's that side of her that wants to ignore the world and just make sure she and Grant are alright.]

[The post to the network was alarming though. She knew that HYDRA was here, but she doesn't like having it flaunted in front of her and everyone. Whitehall messed her up, she knows that much. She also knows she used to be a SHIELD agent. There is a chance she could work with them. There is that other half of her that doesn't give a shit about them because of what happened to her. None of them gave a damn that she got turned in, so why should she care of HYDRA hunts them down?]

[She's hiding in Grants room more now, curled up in a chair with one of her books in hand. When Grant comes in she frowns, sitting the book down and picking up her little network device.]

Is that what this was all about?

[Coulson is dead, huh? There was still conflict there on that. She wanted to kill the man. She really did. But there was something that annoyed her that someone Killed him... she's conflicted still, so she doesn't make a point of reacting to it.]

And you know it was Rumlow?

He confessed it to me. [He moves to sit on the bed with his head in his hands.]

Coulson will be back in a week.

[That.... made her brow raise.]

[Back in a week?]

[She hasn't been told about that part of this place.]

Does the man have trouble staying dead? It's a little unfair, if you ask me, to be reborn again so often. What do you mean he'll be back in a week?

[He stares at the wall before looking back at her.] He sold me to my brother. He was planning on making me a martyr for his cause.

[he's died before, hasn't he? If he's back in a week, it seems like something he does.]

How does that even work? Die and return? That seems a bit... supernatural. [then again this whole place seemed like that...]

[There's a dismissive snort at that before he looks at her.] He locked me up, I was a good agent. I would have handed him HYDRA. That's just it...right?

[He doesn't show doubt. He doesn't show fear.] I know Garrett was crazy. I'm not stupid or insane.

[she moved to sit on the edge of the chair she was in, watching Ward. He'd told her these things. It still bothered her.]

In the end I think we'd be best off if we could just sever ties to both SHIELD and HYDRA. I'm not fond of either group. Not for what they'v done to you or me.

[Is it that he wants to go back? Is that what this is? When she looks at him and when she says not for what they've done to you or me he tilts his head to her because she sees it. What they've done to you.

He rubs at his head and keeps looking at her before he shakes his head]

...One day. I mean it. One day it'll happen. Hopefully sooner rather then later.

We can't not get pulled into this. My presence here means that they'll expect it to be me. Expect that I had something to do with it. I'll have to defend myself.

I tried to help them. I mean you can see that right?

[She moved from her chair and came over to the bed, sliding in to sit beside him, her hand reaching out to rest on his knee.]

You tried. They didn't want anything to do with your help. You can't be blamed. And this? You're not the only one connected to HYDRA in some way. It could be someone else they point to. I think if... if we keep out of this, as best as we can, they'll see. Someone will see...

[He's not the monster they make him out to be. He was just doing as trained.]
