- Respect for others: Participants must treat others with respect and any form of discrimination, harassment, or bullying will not be tolerated.
- Academic integrity: Participants must abide by academic integrity guidelines and not engage in plagiarism or cheating. It isn’t fair to others.
- Intellectual property: All participants must respect the intellectual property rights of others and not use any pre-existing code or resources without proper attribution.
- Teamwork: Teams must work together in a respectful, productive manner. Any issues that arise within a team should be addressed in a timely and appropriate manner. If assistance is needed, don’t be afraid to let the organizers know.
- Safety and security: Participants must follow all safety and security guidelines provided by Boston University and the Civic Tech team and must refrain from any activity that could compromise the safety or security of others.
- Floor Access: Participants must stay on floors that they have been given access to unless the organizers say otherwise.
- Compliance with laws and regulations: Participants must comply with all applicable laws and regulations and refrain from any activity that could be considered illegal or unethical.
- Reporting violations: Any violations of the code of conduct should be reported immediately.
- Compliance with the rules: All participants must comply with the rules and guidelines set by the organizers.
By participating in this Civic Tech Hackathon, all participants are expected to abide by this code of conduct. Failure to comply may result in disqualification or other disciplinary actions as determined by the hackathon organizers.
