Jay had traveling tales at school. That is where each child takes a turn to write and illustrate their own story and then they have to read it in front of the whole third grade. He did awesome. His story was about a a rain drop named Ardy.

This is his story:

Hi, my name is Ardy. People call me Ardy because I am a rain drop and the “R”stands for rain and the “D” stands for drop. I am going to tell you all about my life. Back in Seattle, rain was falling from the sky. A raindrop was made, and it was me, Ardy. I could talk and walk. When I was older, I snuck into a hotel to make a home for myself. I opened a restaurant so other mice and other things that are small and could eat there. I saved enough money so I could get some clothes. I got a rain coat and an umbrella and some skinny jeans.

One day it was all sunny and bright outside and I was enjoying it so much. I put on my flip flops and my swim suit  and went swimming with my friends. Then suddenly out of no where a big rain storm appeared. I was so afraid. You see, when I touch rainwater it turns me into a puddle. That is why I always carry my rain coat and umbrella. I opened up my umbrella and ran back to my home at the Hotel. I stayed there until it stopped raining.

That got me thinking, maybe Seattle wasn't the best place for me. So I packed my bags and took a Taxi to Florida where the sun always shines and I wouldn't have to be afraid of the rain any more.  In Florida I met a friend named “Snake.” He was a dog that had the powers of a man. We did everything together. We went bike riding and ate ice cream and started a lemonade stand so we could make some money to get a new home.  I loved living there because I never had to be afraid of turning into a puddle ever again. I stopped wearing my rain coat and put on a swim suit. I still carried my umbrella with me just in case.
